Logging normal driving - Timing corrections
Because I'm now really scared that something will go wrong with my nice new motor, I logged my entire drive to work to look for timing corrections
it was a cruisey drive to work since the engine is still new, so the WOT action is limited at the moment I noticed that on 5 occasions during the 30min drive, while cruising along at 2-3k rpm with very little throttle the DME pulled some timing, about 2-3 deg, from 1 or 2 cylinders, which resolved quickly, the cylinders moved around, the AFRs were in the 14's since it was cruising so no real explanation I was wondering if anyone else had logged normal driving and seen this? just trying to understand if I have a minor issue lurking any advice appreciated Note : I logged a 3rd gear pull for Tim last night, it was clean apart from some timing corrections just post shift from 3rd to 4th Hoper |

Would you mind posting datazap logs?

I'm actually wondering if the wastegate rattle causes the cruising corrections, I can hear the actuator arms rattle at these cruising speeds |

You can 'fix' this by increasing the fuel scalars (luckily easy fix) but a fundamental change like compression ratio change means that most of the mathematical models used in the DME (there are thousands of them) are now incorrect.

Your consistently under boost target by 2+ psi throughout the run. STFT's are extremely lean. (+34 or close too)

don't forget that log was from the v1 map, effectively the first base map for the new engine, looking at my later logs the fuel trims are still high and the boost is still under target, I'm sure we'll get there, will just take time will post another log in a week or so oh and the turbo's are cheapish eBay jobs, the wastegate actuator has always been a bit loose, they don't have the full on wastegate rattle, they're also not rattle free and yes now that I've spent so much on the internals, I'll be heading for a different turbo solution at some stage, something with more capacity, it'll have to wait until funds become available though |

Just go single turbo. If I could turnback time with what I know now compared to back them I would of went single for sure. Twins are a pain in the ass. been through the 3 sets. The stock set, RB set which smoked after 1400km then a set of Pure stage 2's which eventually stuff out and got a replacement set.

I really like the installation in preference to a top mount, so we'll see how we go |

The top mounts are pretty obvious as an upgrade and look really cramped when done Once I had a look at Rays solution, I decided I'd go that way if I head for single territory, which is likely now that I've spent all the cash on the internals, will take a while for the money tree to recover though, it's looking very bare ATM |
