It's been suggested that us E93 owners get our own thread to chat about our general issues, so I'm starting one. (If there already is one, please let me know.)
Here are some of my random thoughts to get started. - The windscreen/blocker. I don't have one but wish they were more affordable. (Update: I have one now and barely use it because it takes me long to uninstall it) - I want to do the coding to allow me to open/close the roof while driving. What speeds have you all set it at? (Update: I have this now. Can't remember what speed I did. Maybe 40km/hr) And well, sadly, I am reporting that this is my first day separated from my E93 as it decided to overheat and die on me yesterday on the highway (in the USA too, ugh!) Damn water pump failure

I have my hardtop coded to go up / down at 25 mph or below. Watch for road imperfections/ driveways etc. though- could get expensive.

You will not find a working one for that low, I paid $240. And that's a great price.

Interesting... I've never thought about needing a wind deflector for this car. The 1 series, yeah, for sure. I test drove them back to back.
But this car, one of the things I loved about it was with the windows up and top down, very little wind comes thru the front seats. Even more so, I actually hate the looks of the wind deflector, and wouldn't buy one and put it in even if it was $100. Totally ruins the beautiful looks of the car, IMO, if I had it there, not to mention the PITA of removing it every time you want to use the rear seats for things or people: . . . For operating the top while moving, I didn't know you could get that coded. Cool. Must be somewhat new. I bought a SmartTop years ago, which at the time, at almost $400, I thought was crazy, but it's one of the best devices ever! Totally worth it IMO and seriously, every feature in it should have come from the factory! Not only does it let you move the top while driving, some of its best features are that you can operate your top with just one push of the button (fob or console), without having to hold it down the whole time. So you can open the top easily as you approach, and it's done by the time you're in and seatbelt's on. No more waiting. You can close the top as soon as you park by just one tap of the button, turn car off and walk away, and it does it all for you. Don't need to stand there watching it. Folds mirrors in and out when you lock car. And auto unlocks the doors when you turn car off (if you've set the car to lock them when you drive). |

I have no issues now closing the top each time I park either, because it's not a PITA to close it and open it. Don't have to worry about what I have in the car, hiding it, removing it (like my radar detector), etc. The only thing that was a bit of a PITA was the install, which I did myself, but not hard to do. |

That sucks. I take it your out of warranty, I had some roof seals that were worn replaced under warranty, they told me that's usually the cause... Idk if that's true, I don't trust stealerships anyways.

Me too. I have the smart top module set to 25mph but I always watch out for the road ahead. When I do it in traffic on the freeway people back off further because they aren't sure if I might turn into a robot or not LOL! Its funny and cool! LMAO! But yeah I have never had any issues. I wouldn't do it in high wind though...
