Adding Subwoofer to basic e90 system
Hi folks,
My E90 SE came with basic audio system. There is no factory amp, only CD changer. Also I can not see any amp cables mentioned lots of time in this forum. What is the easiest way to install subwoofer in the trunk ? I was hoping to take signal from rear speakers via adapter, use REM from CD changer and thats about it. I can not see how can I get to the rear speakers from the trunk ? Help please... |

When I did mine, I picked up a signal somewhere in the trunk - worked perfectly. (don't remember, its been so long) Is that because i have the upgraded sound system and the OP doesn't?

Hi, I am also going to install a sub and amp on the E90 saloon w/o iDrive. Q1. Will I just vibration if I put a 14" sub in the boot - powered with own amp (no fold down seats). Q2. Where's best location to tap-in to the underseat woofers, what colour are the wires? Q3. Best location for a remote wire? As eliotn, I dont have factory amp - doh! Just sold my Jet Black E46 and got me this E90 baby in Graphite ! Thanks |

Yellow/Red + pin 14 Yellow/Brown – pin 4 REAR RIGHT WOOFER Blue/Green + pin 13 Blue/Brown – pin 3 They are easy to spot in the harness, they are the 4 bigger wires. Hook them up to a 2-channel line output convertor and you're good to go. From: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...t=52193&page=2 http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138949 My wiring harness had a tiny black wire which I found out was the stock amp's remote wire. I just spliced into that. Worked perfectly. Eliotn: Since you don't have factory amp, you could tap into cigarette lighter wiring, I have heard of other people on hear doing that. This thread may help too http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163804 It goes over how to do SWS-8 install but the amp info included helps. What subwoofer and amp is everyone running? I’m have older 12 alpine type with pdx5 amp. 200-300 rms and since my seat doesn’t fold down or have a pass through I can barely hear it. I have a small custom made corner box that I bought off here a few years ago. It’s about 1 cubic foot sealed. What’s should I be looking for?
