The central convoy will be leaving from the hotel to the carpark shortly after breakfast closes. Ain't that right Viv, Tony and Floyd?

It's going to be some journey, but it'll be worth it, Matt.

Is there any sort of actual plan for this day?

All I know is that we are meeting at 11:00am, but not sure where?

Then there might be some sort of treasure hunt thing?

Then some people might stay overnight?

Okay... as far as I understand it so far.

Meeting up at the Best Western Lee Wood Hotel. Buxton, SK17 6TQ. Meet time has been suggested as 11am as lunch will be about 12.

Following this I expect we'll gather for a few pics and some time to meet everyone and compare cars. I expect carlos will give a dipstick demo to anyone who is interested.

The Treasure Hunt idea is progressing and a few of us are going up tomorrow to sort out the route and details. We've got a few locations in mind, but want to drive the route to make sure that Carlos can get lost easily.

Thanks to the sponsorship of Speedreligion.net we'll have a photographer with us over the weekend, so we'll need to give him at least a couple of opprotunities to get a few shots. So depending on how the Treasure Hunt goes there will perhaps be time to take a group trip to another location to enjoy a bit more driving.

Obviously we'll want to gather again for an evening meal and a few drinks for those who are stopping over.

Sunday is still being worked on. We'd like to be more organised than in the past and sort out another drive, and I know that others are working on trying to get somewhere where we could do a bit of cleaning and detailing. Especially if scottc is bringing his polishing kit. However, provision of a location for more than 10 cars and a water supply is proving troublesome.

.... and if any lurkers are out there, you are more than welcome to come along and join the fun.

A word of caution for those attending as well.

Derbyshire police have started using a completely unmarked blue van as a covert speed camera unit. It even has a GB sticker on the rear window to make it look more like a workmans van (or perhaos they loan it to the French?)

It is apparently used in conjunction with marked units to chase down offenders on such roads as the B5035 A5012 and the A515 in the Buxton area.

Police in Derbyshire have confessed to using this sneaky new speed camera van to target motorcyclists.

The force originally denied claims from a force insider of a “workman’s van” speed camera used to target motorcyclists.

But when presented with this picture, taken by an eagle eyed MCN reader, the force admitted: “We have a number of routes that we have high motorcycle casualties on… That’s really what the van has been done for.”

Sgt Andy Carmichael, from the force’s road policing unit, claimed it was “merely” painted a different colour rather than disguised as anything in particular – despite the GB sticker on the back.

Sgt Andy Carmichael admitted the hatch in the rear window of the van slides open to reveal a speed camera.

For more on this story, get MCN, on sale April 23.

It just wouldn't be the same without him.

So, meet-up time is 11am on Saturday at the Best Western Leewood Hotel, Buxton:

We can have some lunch, talk sh*te about our cars, take some photos & start the 'Treasure Hunt' sometime after about 2pm on the Saturday afternoon.
We'll be sorting a route around Buxton on Friday & we don't expect the 'Treasure Hunt' to take any longer than 2 hours, at most.

Tony, Matt, Ant & myself will be at the hotel over the Saturday afternoon, just to 'keep an eye on things'.

Jock the Photographer will be around to take some professional shots of the group as a whole & of individual cars as well.
Hopefully, we'll be able to collect a good range & quality of shots, with the possibility of having them published in one of the BMW magazines.

Ant will be able to supply & fit certain BMW Performance range products on Saturday afternoon. Send him a PM about it, if you haven't already done so.

All the best.

Viv

I need a lift to UK5 and it appears Serjames does too from SW London. Can anyone offer us a lift?

Probably not a good idea to pair me and James together for the Treasure Hunt!! Two navigators and no car!!
