Cracked front differential/carrier

Yes I did a search, but if you find one call me all the names you like just share it. 06 325xi had a feeling like a bearing was going bad but ended up being my front carrier. The casing cracked just at the bottom. Ok real question in replacing I was looking at things and was thinking I could leave axle in hub and just pull it from carrier which it is loose anyway coming out about a 1/2" from carrier. Let me know your thoughts if any of you has had to do this. t/u

Shaft to rear

What is the best way to lock up the shaft to the rear so I can loosen 4 torx bolts connecting Carrier to shaft? I guess I can try putting it in gear if I don't get any other suggestions.

Screw driver

Put screw driver in U-joint to hold it in place while I loosened the 4 torx bolts. Now to pop out passenger side shaft.

Help

Does anyone know if I have to drop sub frame to get front diff out or maybe remove the rear shaft to get more room to maneuver it? A bearing ring dropped out of it along with the plate next to transmission. Also once I get it out I have to try to get the piece that goes into tranny where the shaft comes in since it broke off there also. Yes I am having a lot of fun but moving along.

Deeper

Noticed some oil had to tear it back down and found a 6" hairline crack in my oil pan where the differential connects to it. Just ordered pan gasket and new bolts. Oil change since it had to be drained;

The fact that you have been talking to yourself for the past two weeks is kinda weird. I can't help with your issue, but to break up the solo conversation...

HI!

This is an old thread, but did you crack your front bumper carrier or something else and I'm just missing it?
