Very creative install! Looks pretty slick there..doesn't the angle of the screen make it difficult to see/use?

How about turning it on/off and updating?? did you run a cable to the glove box or somthing??
I actually bought a spare vent to have a go at this, so very interested. |

funny story about turning it on and off when i was installing it i was tring to figure out how i was going to turn it on and off lets just say it got to the point where i was useing fishing string. Then i found out that when it is pluged into the lighter that it goes on and off automatically when the car goes on and off .And as far as updating i dont no about that but its farlly easy to take in and out.I ran the cable yes thought the ashtray then inderneath the ac controls and spliced in another lighter and used that to power it so i could still use the one in the ashtray if you need any help let me no i will walk you thought it

Is that a 4.8" screen??
Garmin seem to be excellent all over the world but stink in the UK, the routing profiles just don't seem to match the UK road system at all, so I use a Sony which is using navigon software, this really is the best I have used. I have used it in the GPStar system and just love it, so when Sony started to use it I was really pleased. So I would like to get the Sony or a Navigon system in there, the Sony uses a 4.8" Screen, so if that would fit it would be ideal. I am not sure if the Sony tunrs on/off with the car though. I know it gives you an option to go to battery or the unit powers off with a 30 second count down. Typically my wife uses the nav about 6 times a year and has taken it this morning!! very annoying. I will have a play this evening. |

Very creative. You must live in a cool environment. I need that vent to prevent "swamp ass". Regardless, very nice clean install.

Nice job. The best Nav installed I have seen in this forum. How did you take out the vent? Can you post some instructions? I am jealous since we paid 2100 for I-Drive and we are not fully satisfied with its performance.

What did you use to block the vent so that your Garmin does not freeze when the air conditioning is on? Is that a 2.5" screen or a 4.3" screen?
