i have this problem too... mines squeaks also when I accelerate from a stop. But the tech wasn't able to replicate the problem so they didnt do anything about... annoyances really.

Has anyone contacted BMWUSA about this problem directly? Usually they also have someone monitoring these forums; if there is a BMW representative seeing this I am sure a LOT of us would like some follow-up here. I find this issue to be very, very annoying and a safety concern as well.

This is what happens when you try to apply technology that is "not ready for prime time". If they just had a way to turn this crap off it wouldn't be an issue. I doubt they are going to address this any time soon as it's been a problem for over 2 years now. Simply ridiculous...

The brake abruptly clamps down or abruptly disengages when you lift your foot off it making the car jerky during take off or when braking slowly. What does this mean? Well you basically cannot parallel park your car or park close to a wall without smacking your bumper/s and looking like an asshole as you jerk yourself into position. And when lifting your foot off the brake the car jerks forward or feels like you got tapped in the rear. Yet you say this isn't an issue or problem... .
If you call that working I hate to see what you call broken. |

That obviously is "how the car works". But to comment that "its not an issue or a problem" is inaccurate and inappropriate. It may not be an issue or problem to you, but it is to a lot of owners. More than anything, I find it to be a safety issue.

Just what the hell do you mean by this ?
What purpose does it serve exactly ? I almost scraped my air dam the other day because of it ! I think I will call BMWNA TOMORROW about this.

Please post whatever response or comments BMWNA gives you; also if you have a particular contact person that we can all inundate with our concerns. Thanks.

This was not a "known problem" but she would "take my information" NOT very happy with the outcome. J

That is pretty disappointing. Hopefully some BMWNA representative is monitoring these forums and will look into this further.

The 335 (maybe 328 as well?) is quite well known for its touchy brakes. I remember the first time I test drove one; man, everyone in the car looked at me when I tried to stop for the first time--we braked like I'd slammed on the brakes in any other car. Very touchy. Maybe the better word is very "grabby".

Do you have any idea of which software upgrade you got? I have read that certain versions also negatively effect performance. Any information and details are appreciated, thanks.

Although he stopped short of saying that it was an actual problem, he did tell me that when he first encountered it (on another BMW, not mine) he felt it was a problem with the torque converter, but that wasn't the case. So, in it goes Monday morning... I'll let you know what happens. J

Someone on another forum claims that BMW SIB # 23 03 08 addresses the problem. Perhaps someone could verify if true? Is this the standard "Progman" update or something else?

Not Yet...
Upon arriving at Hassel BMW on Monday morning, I was informed that I needed a loaner car because my 335i would most likely be there overnight for reprogramming.
Since I wasn't scheduled for a loaner I had to reschedule my appointment for 7/14. Now I am hearing horror stories about the 29.2 update. what should I do? Any ideas ? Joseph

i have a manual E90 328 and i have not experienced anything like what you guys are describing. i park in a very tight parking garage (with a huge rectangular concrete pillar 4" from my car) and i frequently do parallel parking (i live in downtown SF) i don't have any issues, other than when trying to roll the car backwards in 1st gear my lifting the clutch (i have to either wait for brake assist to go away or i have to select reverse gear) when i am driving the car hard i find the brakes can be modulated easily enough (and are at the perfect height for heel toe) |

I get this problem if i havent driven my car in a day or more. And its only on cold start, after the brakes warm up for a bit everything gets back to normal. But its annoying, cause at the light when i have to stop, i actually roll back a couple of inches before it lurches forward. Not sure if this is the same problem as everyone else is having.
