I haven't ran those pads in a while so I can't compare. I know that those were really low dust, but i would easily sacrifice a little dust for the performance.

The Hawk HPS are a low dust pad and stop well, but don't have the "bite" of the OE pad. I wouldn't use them for track duty. HP+ can be an entry level track pad but they dust and are noisy. I run these as my street pad on the M3. Blues or HT-10 would be the next step for a track only pad.
Whether you track or don't, they are have a great feeling and relay the perfect amount of info through the pedal.

I think Orb can chime in on that since I believe he lives in Toronto.

they sound amazing. do these come in fitment for 328i's? I'd love to have a low dust pad with better performance than OEM.

This money spent though is so well worth it.
Even for daily driving, these brakes are so incredible.

I accelerated to a familiar 90 degree turn the other day and I braked at around the same place as before. I stopped so much sooner than in the past.
It's really amazing with how well these things grab.

well my brakes have been squeaking whenever I drive below 15 mph, this will be a good excuse to change them out.

Installed mine Friday and am pleasantly surprised at how much better these are over the OEM.
I learned that my downshifting rather than braking hard is really paying off too ....... 20K miles on the OEM pads and only half worn.

I would only do the downshifting vs braking hard on a track (situation dependent), or in the winter (traction purposes)...

for normal DD, consider the cost of putting the load on your tranny vs. your pads...they are made to make you stop, and are REALLY cheap vs tranny issues

Am I the only one who doesn't like Cool Carbon? I tried them and from the moment I first pressed the brake pedal I didn't like them. Just sitting still the pedal travel is a lot further than with OEM pads. They felt squishy, like the pad material was compressible. Yes, I know that doesn't make sense, and I know what you're thinking - I got air into the system. But, when I removed them and put the OEM pads back, the firm pedal feel was also back and the squishiness was gone.

No, you are one of the few people who failed to bed the pads in properly. They require twice the stops at higher speed over normal pads for bedding. You also need to do the process 2-3 times.

Even after bedding the brakes fiim beyound OEM pads in few days.

Why would pads be squishy feeling at rest, regardless of breaking in process? And I believe I *did* break them in properly, plus afterwards I spent a weekend at Mosport with them, and they didn't firm up at all.

Yeah Toaddy, pads are cheap. Even on the track, brakes first in most cases.

Orb

You need to get some 70+mph runs to bed these pads.

I think this (downshifting) is more out of habit than anything for me ....... no hard shifting (high revs) just gradual inline with the RPM shift points.

So, would 130mph be enough? Like I said, I spent a weekend at Mosport with them and they didn't improve.

Did you allow the pads to sit at least 24 hrs between bedding? It takes me about 2 bed-in procedures to get the pads to where they are track ready.

With new rotors or rotors with pad material (not cool carbon pads), 3-5 bed-in procedures are needed.

When I purchased my first set (on 6th set of pads) I failed to bed the pads properly on old rotors, braking was ok but spongy. With the 2nd set, bed-in was done over 3 days and the pads performed superbly.
