Thanks guys, I may or may not be working on the remaining portions this weekend, but my additional leatherique dye should arrive soon

Interesting that you chose to spray every coat. Also sounds like a lot of extra work having to sand everything after spraying to get rid of the shine. Was there not a matting agent that could have been added to the pigment prior to use? Was there much waste from overspray compared with application by hand? Sorry for all the questions, this is one of my fields of work so I have a lot of interest in the different techniques etc.

I used a spray because the "dye" is really more of a very elastic translucent "paint" that bonds to the top of the leather. The spray allowed for a more even coat. I guess it's similar in concept, if not the same execution, as non-aniline dyed leather? OEM leather is, i think, painted in a heated drum which makes it more durable. But my previous leatherique dye job still looked new 2 years into it. There is some overspray on the cloth sides of the rear seats, but I have a bottle of back cloth dye to redye to black portions back to black. The overspray also cleans up with rubbing alcohol before it completely bonds to the surface, you usually have a good week to clean it up. If I could do it over again, I would have redone it with a brush method for the first 2 coats, and 2 light spray coats to get rid of the shine. The brush method seems to allow the dye to adhere and soak faster into the leather for quicker results.

I'm looking forward to doing my own write ups in the new year, black to red on an Audi interior & coral red to deep purple on my own interior, not quite the contrast of black to cinnamon, but it should make a nice contrast to the satin lime green body |

Thanks guys! Here's another update, this is after the 2nd coat, I need to do 2 more very light coats to reduce the shine (also due to the cell phone camara's flash). Far from done, I need to scrub off overspray in certain area's, but it should be ready to be installed in the car by tomorrow evening.
Once again the pictures may look blurry due to the size of the original picture via the cell phone. Rest assured, the original factory leather graining is still intacted. I'll use a digital camera once finished like I did with my last updates.

Looks fantastic! If I chose to keep my SG E90 long-term, I'd definitely be crazy enough to try and do this in saddle brown!
Are you going to use a fabric pen and redye the stitching to another color? Depending on your car's color, I think black, gray, or white would be rather nice! |

A fabric pen is a good idea. Another idea that I came across is if you just lay a strip of leatherique dye onto the seam where the stitching is at, and let it sit for a couple hours before it settles into the leather, you can peal at the "dye" and it'll remain on the stitching redying it. Someone should try to redo their black stitching to white using this method

better digital camera pics, but under florescent lighting. It's dark outside so we'll have to wait for day time pics tomorrow

Yes, It'll scrub off with hot soapy water the cement surface is too cold for the dye to bond with the surface.

Almost done, i still need to do the door skins (which again will need to order more dye) and the rear armrest is still curing
excuse the dirty car, it rained most of last week and I haven't had time to wash it yet.
