It was a very close call for me (e92 or Cayman). I have no regrets, but next car could be a Cayman or a new M3

I wish we could get 32MPG out of a 335d!

My 335d has done just over 6,000 miles and I'm getting an average of around 35 to 36mpg. The OBC is showing 39.6 right now, but that's after a couple of reasonably long runs (75 and 125 miles). I reset the average fuel consumption last weekend, and it was showing around 25mpg average after a few trips around town with light traffic.
I think it's not too bad at all - slightly better economy than my old E60 530dA, and much better than my wife's MINI Cooper S. ;-)

Why's it late squeeze? Hope it isn't the engine if you're getting 335d as the coupes are probably nicking engines from the saloons and I'm awaiting a 335d e90!

thats a good point about the consumption you know, i said 38 more as a quoted figure from the specs, in reality mine is reading about 31 at the moment for the last 3 weeks of driving...
mainly short trips recently so not too disheartened... although the 335i doesn't seem too dissimilar so if thats the case the d kindof looses its edge... |

thats terible, might go for the petrol instead of the 335d.
sure after 15k or so the engine will have broken in a lot more. i have read on the US forums that the 335 get 20mpg around town. its all very subjective though. |

I think the best way is to compare to what you're used to, assuming you're still doing the same type of journeys.
Our previous two 330d sport autos would do around 26-27 MPG around town and about 40 on a long run. Doing similar runs to what we currently do with the 335d, the last 330d was managing around 30-31 so the 335d is certainley no worse and should improve a little more as it gets older. These are actual MPG fiqures calculated from fill ups and not the OBC readings, which I checked yesterday showing 31.9. Typically in all our other BMs the OBC was quite a bit out showing 4-5 MPG better than actual. When our 330ds were doing 26-27 around town our M3 would get about 17 MPG on the same journeys. Regards Chris
