Comfort Access Not Working After Car Battery Replacement

So I recently brought my car in to the dealer to get my car battery replaced. However, now my comfort access will not work. I can’t unlock/lock the car with just the handle and when I try to start the car without inserting the fob into the slot, it tells me that the key cannot be found.

I also replaced the key fob battery with a brand new one and still no luck.

I have a 2011 328i xdrive, any advice?

First thing take it back they should have returned it to you the way they got it.
Did someone else retrofit it. If they did and you got a software update then
if they programmed from the original VO it would have overwritten it.
In any case you first step should be to take it back .

So I brought the car back to the dealer. They told me that the passenger door handle needs to be replaced as it’s drawing too much power from the battery and is blowing the fuse.
They said they replaced the fuse and then the CA works, but it’ll keep blowing the fuse until the handle is replaced.

What about the one on the other side .
Does it blow fuses to?
Seems strange you take it in then it stop's working .
I wonder if they disturbed some of the wiring around the comfort access module which
is above the battery on the sidewall.

My apologies, when I posted my response on April 7th, I was stating what the BMW service advisor told me himself.
After reading the post service order I was given, it stated that it was actually the driver’s door handle drawing too much power. My driver’s handle has never worked since I purchased the car, but after bringing it into the dealer for the battery replacement, my passenger door and keyless start both stopped working.
The service advisor made it seem like the 2 doors and the keyless start were all on 1 fuse.
In the end, they were telling me it was the driver’s door handle blowing the fuse and causing the passengers door and keyless start to not work.
I think it’s strange as well. I told this to the advisor and he told me that “replacing the battery wouldn’t have any effect on the CA”. I have had the car for about 2 years and my faulty driver’s door handle never blew the fuse before until I brought it into the dealer.

I don't think these guys are really checking very hard.
I try to do as much DIY as I can because I trust myself more than most places I take it.
I only take it to a shop with the best rep and even then I experience troubling stuff.
The other day one of my coils went out I would have had them fix it but I would have had to wait
two week's so I just did it myself.
When I took it in for a battery replacement they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't register .
I figured out why as the BSD cable had been pulled when the battery was removed.

That’s great you are able to do so much DIY, you seem very knowledgeable. Unfortunately I didn’t have the time or a place to work on my car as I needed it to commute to work and it was -20 Celsius out around the time. I was hoping the dealer would be able to check over their work done and ensure it was done correctly.

Here is what the invoice says:
“W1- Performed short test fault for CA module.
W2- performed test plan module is not responding.
Checked lines, ok. Found fuse has blown due to drivers faulty door handle drawing too much current. Overload may have damaged module”.

I don't know how things work in Canada but if you have a car out
of warranty it is usually cheaper to take it to an Independent BMW
shop. Also a dealer will follow a set plan to fix the whole car so if
you knew that it had problems then you should have communicated
that to them .

I did tell the service advisor prior to service about the faulty driver’s door handle I already knew about.
