Does anyone know why half the injectors the dealer put in my car have the Siemens VDO molded into them and the other half do not? All are index -12, I just find it odd the molds would have different markings.

^I have installed quite a few of the Index 12 Injectors (about 35-40 or so)
From what I have seen, some of the Index 12 Injectors come in two "flavors": 1. A Round plastic tube which more more bulky 2. A Rectangle plastic tube which is more flat and less bulky One of the containers may signify a revision or update - which I am guessing means one of the two types have the Siemens VDO stamp and the others ones don't? This is just my speculation from seeing quite a few of these injectors in the new OEM containers. Take it for what you will. I have never really had both types together in my hands at once to check but I should be able to sometime next week if anyone if interested. To add to the others notes above about OEM injectors vs. Rebranded/Refurbished ones from places such as RockAuto, I have also installed many used/refurbished injectors for people who try to cheap out. They usually have issues down the road (misfires, leaking/bad injectors, flow and energy rates out of wack?). Some guys get lucky, but most do not and have to end up biting the bullet to buy new injectors and spend more money down the road. I wish the quality of the OE injector was better and didn't have as many issues, but at the end of the day it is what it is and these are the known issues of this platform. Nothing new to me

^^^ + 1000!
I've been doing a little bit of experimentation and independent research on the fuel injectors. I have a pretty unique driving habits combined with unique climate and fuel supply characteristics. I've been replacing my own injectors for the past 4 years and I have the following theory: Injectors DO get affected by ethanol regardless of what everyone says. In Chicago we have mandatory 10% ethanol fuel everywhere and in the winter, this ethanol percentage actually increases slightly, to say 12-13%. I've measured ethanol on several Shell and Mobil gas stations and I've found that winter blend fuels in Chicago carry more ethanol. I drive the car very infrequently, mostly one day on the weekend, unless I am racing. In the winter, I usually leave the car plugged into a battery charger and I use Zipcar to get groceries as the streets are often full of snow and ice. What I've noticed is that when an injector fails, it usually fails in the spring when I actually start driving the car more. Out of the 8 injectors I've replaced myself, 6 of them failed in the months of April and May, which is directly after a long cold winter. Remember my car is hibernating during most of the winter. Ethanol naturally has the tendency to separate from gasolene unless the fuel is regularly mixed. When that happens, small amounts of water will naturally occur in the fuel. Because I don't drive the car frequently enough, ethanol begins to separate in my gas tank, in the fuel lines and in the fuel injectors themselves. Small amounts of water droplets either freeze in the cold or rust out the delicate components inside the injectors as my car sits in the garage and the engine does not run. So, I've started adding 2 oz of Marine Stabil per gas tank and at the same time I always make sure my fuel tank is as full as possible in the winter. This minimizes the air in the tank and therefore the moisture. If my theory is true, this spring I should not have any injector failures. I've talked to a lot of local guys with tuned N54 engines who drive their cars on a daily basis and they don't see nearly as many injector failures as I do. Again, this is just a theory and it could turn out to be a complete waste of my time.

Nope. Everything is fine with the .zip file. Why not just use the Windows native Right Click -> Extract All option?

I found some details that bosch had injectors to suit the 07 335i and the price was great but the pic was of the new style injector (the N54 uses the more expensive piezo style injectors) |

Can anyone help me resolve this issue please.
Ive read through this entire thread and have tried some of the solutions but none have worked for me. I have the Error #100 SYS-0010: Initialization Error. I've tried clicking through it but has not worked. I can however connect to my car (both dots are black). Really can't figure it out myself. Trying to code new injectors for an e92 n54. I'm running V5.0.2. Thanks |

This is possibly due to port speed error. Check the port speed.
