dzenno that is really crazy fast. My best 100-200 km/h is 8.79s and that is really not slow by any means.....

I will have to upgrade to RB's in the spring. Winter is coming and I will not be able to get proper traction for months now unfortunately....

You guys inspire me, but it's also friggin' expensive to keep at it....

Oh well, it's all great fun as well

Someone needs to wake Mr. 5 up, much has been happening around these parts! I am almost done running the DI system cleaner through my tank, once that's done I'm going to load up on 93 and do some runs, maybe it'll be a bit quicker!

Absolutely. However we tend to get a lot of snow along with the cold temps and that, in my experience, is rather counterproductive for good acceleration times....

Did a 8.89 run this morning in the 2008 335i sedan to replace my previous 9.07run. This is currently the record for a stock turbo non nitrous car. DBN File sent. Two back to back runs, one 8.94 and then the 8.89 run within minutes of each other.

This is good stuff. Any of these cars close to 9 flat are 120+ mph trap cars!

Looks like today was an awfully good day for runs! Nice runs Hotrod! I had a good one of my own...8.84 I think that gives me the title for stock turbo, no-nitrous record... That said, I fully acknowledge the fact that Warren got his with fewer mods than I did.

Excellent numbers! I am going to experiment with shifting before redline. Are you shifting around 6200rpm? I am also wondering if brake boosting might help at the beginning of the run in 3rd gear since the car is at pretty low rpms right at 60mph. Good thing about a Vbox, you will see the results of what works and what doesnt! I am really glad people are starting to use these. And I would love to see more people using them at the tracks too.

Have you done a qtr mile run on the Vbox on a level road yet? Bet you will be trapping around 124mph.

Thanks! I am shifting somewhere in that range, around 6200ish. That said, I would also imagine that there isn't that much benefit to brake boosting before 60, since you are starting your run well before 60 and the car is already under full load.

I really want to do a level 1/4 mile run, and will probably have the chance to do so on Friday...I would be thrilled with 124mph traps! Thing is, I really do have to go to a strip if I want to do 1/4 mile runs, as the topography of the area where I live is simply too hilly and wooded to find somewhere that I can safely go from 0-130. I will bring my Vbox with me to the track, and I will probably stay in it until 130 so I can get 60-130 times.

Congrats on the time. It's really fast. I did a few tests myself the other day, since I swapped the Steinbauer with a JB4, and even with a good deal of wheelspin I hit 117.83 mph on the Vbox on the 1/4 mile, while also doing a 60-130 time of 10.65 secs with 2 shifts, so I think hotrod is right on the money with the ~125 mph trap speed. I'm seriously considering meth now. Man that is a LOT of extra power/performance you got there

Don't mind the metric screenshot, it's 117.83 mph according to the log. The lousy time (considering the end speed) is because it's 10F here and the runflats really don't grip too well and I launched like an old lady (2.4 sec 60'....)

Very nice run! Even nicer trap speed! How much boost were you targeting? That 60-130 is exactly what I ran when I was FBO, no meth, 14.5psi/100%IC, and RFTs, so just think about what you would run if you went meth! It's worth every penny! Dropping nearly 2 seconds 60-130 for one relatively cheap mod...think about it

Thanks. I actually thought that that was your exact time as well LOL

I didn't log the run, but it was on map 5 (auto tuning), so probably it was very likely targeting around 14.5-15.0 psi.

Now I want to find that hill I discovered a month or 2 ago with the 2.4% slope, that ought to put me just in the 9.xx range (probably like 9.9x but hey, it's in the 9's)

Of course it won't actually make the car any faster, so trust me, I'm going to be looking into this meth thing very soon....

Okay, new record for the day. Did back to back runs of 8.69 seconds. Tried short shifting the 2nd run, same exact time. Would it of been faster if I tried short shifting on the 1st run instead of the 2nd run? I have no idea. Built a little boost in 3rd right before hitting 60mph. Not sure if that helped either. I also ran 91-93 octane Shell this time, instead of 97 octane. Could that be better with lower octane??

Then...after all this done, I went straight to a qtr mile test. 11.7 at 124.8 mph! Car is running pretty strong!

I just got an email from Dzenno.
He just ran a 7.59 with the following mods.

Cobb Stage 3 race map (alpha), jb4 only used for gauges, passenger and rear seats out, pump+meth...cobb stage 3 race alpha map runs 21psi down to 17psi at redline with about 6-8deg timing less than stock down low and about 2-3 deg less up top than stock...

Only one thing to do about it as I see it, we will HAVE TO get some RB's ourselves...

I won't take my seats out though, but probably dzenno is in the process of trying to replicate HR's results. Wonder what'll come off/out next.....

I recently changed my Steinbauer tune to a JB4, and I've been running map 5 for a few weeks. Sunday I upgraded the firmware and started logging map 5 and map 2 and found that I am boosting a consistent 1.2-1.4 psi more on map 2. Vbox readins suggested I was quite a bit faster also.

Well, that needed some testing, so I was out doing some 100-200 kmh tests and was so impressed with the times I got, that I just let go of the accelerator a split second too fast to get a good 60-130 mph time (I stopped accelerating @ 129.47 mph LOL), but just to give you an idea of how fast this litle sucker is now here's the Vbox results of a 59-129 mph (should be VERY close to what would have been the 60-130 mph time). This is a full bolt on car, NO meth, and tested at the same place where I got a 11.33 time with the Steinbauer tune

I will try again at a later time, I had 3/4 tank of fuel so I should be able to cut a it off with less fuel, so I'm not sending anything to Mr.5 just yet, but I will. I know I'm nowhere near the RB/meth/N2O cars, but hey, I think it's pretty good for a FBO, stock turbos, no meth and no weight reduction car

Wow...that's crazy strong for FBO, no meth. I can't tell what the slope is, but if it was in the same spot as a previously verified run, I'm sure it's good. Great job, you have a car that is meth fast, minus the meth! With meth, mid-high 8s should be easy for you.
