The JB4 run lean safety will go to map4 if AFR goes leaner than 14:1 for more than a second, fuel pressure drops below 750psi for more than a second, etc.

are these safeties still active when running 4/2 backend?

yes. The JB4 retains all the safeties with a backend

I was not kicked to map 4. I just went outside and checked, and the car is still in map 7.

The problem with any tune is that an engine can blow before any failsafe kicks in, which appears to be what happened in your case.

I thought jb4 had a failsafe for the hpfp? If it wasn't high enough, I thought it went into safety mode?

I understand. Oh well, lesson learned the hard way. It's been a fun platform but I don't think I can justify spending 5k to get a 12k car running again. I'll probably just take the loss and sell the car like it is.

It does, it just didn't activate in time I guess.

Jb4 alone or any piggyback is never safe when running that much power, it just doesn't control enough parameters.. I Learned my lesson the hard way as well. Now I'm doing flashes with a custom tune.

Do a compression test first... You might have lucked out and just have an injector stuck open.

I said long before he posted the log, that the hpfp tanked lol. A ton of people don't know how to measure e85 by volume, correctly, from what I gather. People think, running 6 gallons of e85, is e40 mix lol.

This scares the crap out of me. I'm just waiting for the day my high mileage E92 blows up or something major goes wrong. So far most of my fixes have been under $1500.

I think I'm on borrowed time here, just saving up my $$ for that day...

According to the E85 calculator 6 gallons of E85 to 10 gallons of premium is E38.

This is exactly why I'll only be dealing with Pump Gas. Even if my knowledge on 'blends' wasn't rudimentary, I don't have the patience to accurately measure every time.. especially when the negative effects can lead to this.

No thanks, I'll survive with less power.

I'm happy running 93 / 98 RON as well. It seems some people are prepared to risk some pretty catastrophic failures just to eek every last ounce of power from their engine.

Not winter blend.
I live beside Raleigh , N.C and the station I go to never switches to a winter blend. ( for the last 2 years anyways ) I guess our weather doesn't get cold enough to go to winter blend.

No winter blend around my area.
I still test it from time to time though.

You can run both. It's called a backend flash. What benefit would there be to a flash only vs JB4 + backend flash?

That's why I said a "piggyback alone" and trust me there are people out there only running that and like 7 gallons of e85

That would assume people nearly drain their tanks. I put in 13.8 gallons after my E light went on yesterday. Ive never put a full 16 gallon in any of me E92.

Plus it's not really a good idea to drive around trying to get every last drop out as the bottom of the tank usually has sediment.

6 gallons would be too much for most trying to achieve E40, unless they almost drained their tanks empty and did a combined 16 gallon fill up. I think the tank technically holds a little over 17.

That is correct sir... lol I had the unfortunate time of driving it through E because my float got stuck! Took just about 17 exactly to go from dead empty to full!
