On the Rays I'm running 265/35/19 and 295/30/19 and yes the speedo will be out but it's negligible really in the grand scheme of things. You will find, as above, that speedo's (although becoming more accurate now) still aren't 100% anyway. Only time I worry about it is when going through average speed camera zones and cameras.
Falkens offer the best stretch as they run very slim. MPSS's I am running are much broader and personally like them for offering a bit more protection.

Lovely looking E91!
Would you mind posting a link to the rear diffuser you purchased - did this require any trimming to fit? Also a link to the splitters if you don't mind! |

The diffuser
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...obalID=EBAY-GB The diffuser fits pretty well I was pleasantly surprised, if I fiddled with it more could probably get it sitting even better. Overall I'm very happy though! It will need painting just to add but this was done at home with some satin black and came out really well as contrasts the black of the car. |

Bank holiday weekend (after i finished my decking) time was spent getting to know my DA. Well its a lot harder than i thought it would be, a lot of the online videos make it look a doddle!! I've got rid of a lot of the swirl marks but not made a big enough dent in the deeper marks and bird poo stain on the bonnet. I used Meguiars Ultimate Compound and an Orange Hex Logic pad. Practice is the key though and it keeps me quiet i guess...
Overall I'm happy and at the end of the day its never going to be a minter and a part of me is happy as I can drive it how I want and not be too precious about it. Next phase will be some finishing polish or the poorboys black hole. Servicing and maintenance is up next but after that it's definitely going lower to the ground!! |

Hi Greg, great updates. like you i've been searching for a manual 335i touring for what seems an age now, over a year at least! I previously had a 135i and regrettably had to sell it when our son was born. I thought a 335i would be perfect as a car for me to enjoy but one i could also use for a family day out instead of our qashqai. I'd love an RS4 avant but they're still holding values well and out of my budget. Until i began looking into 335i tourings last year I hadn't appreciated how rare they were.
I did view a 335i LCI manual touring last month in Dorset however right at the last minute when i was about to purchase the car someone turned up and offered substantially more than the asking price to take the car instead of me to which i was incredibly annoyed to say the least. (They might be on here so ill refrain from ranting about how upset i was). So i'm now considering an automatic or scrapping the 335i touring idea and getting another 135i just for me and using the Qashqai for all family trips. I did test drive an auto last month and like you, never felt it was awful, just not what i wanted, besides the car had 120k miles which was more than i'd have liked. However this alpina tune has me intrigued if i did open my options to an auto? where can this be done? Is it readily available/expensive? And is any m3 wheel with the +- paddles a direct swap as you've installed? My 135i was previously flashed with a MHD flasher tune and i personally loved it, however i don't believe MHD amend the TCU, just the ECU. Is the alpina flash that good and would it work with an engine remap, ie with the rev matching etc? Sorry for all the questions, keep up the good work and i've loved seeing your progress so far. |

Yup a DA is a lot more work to use but is safer. For quicker correction a rotary is the way forward but you have to be careful as it's far easier to burn the paint or completely take it off LOL. Took me 40 hours to do a whole car and it does also depend on the compound and pads you use. As you say though it doesn't have to be to concourse standard.

Was the one you looked at K Tec, blue 58 plate I think? The 335 is a great family car, best of both worlds having come from a coupe. The Alpina flash can be done by a guy locally in Canford Heath. He specialises in E46 M3's but is a friend and agreed to try and do it on my car and it worked well after a couple of little tweaks. I'm sure he'd do it for you for under £50. With the Alpina software and M3 wheel its a big improvement. The paddles work from an M3 wheel and it is a direct swap as long as you use your existing steering wheel buttons. The wheel and paddles can be easily picked up for under £300. Made a lot of difference to my enjoyment and I dont see why it wouldn't work with a tune. I'm more than happy to show you mine and see what you think! |

Ah you’re literally up the road then as I’m based in Westbourne.
Yes it was the blue LCI Manual at K-tec, I was shocked they had it but called straight away on the Friday to arrange a viewing first thing Saturday morning, they advised they’d taken it in part ex from a guy in surrey I believe, who for some reason wanted a Renault? Having rearranged all my plans I arrived @ 0930 on the saturday, discussed the car with Dave, the owner of K-tec and viewed it inside out and before doing the deal I naturally asked for a test drive. At which point I was told to wait for Dave. About 30 minutes passed to which point they then called me in the office to say they’ve received an offer of £15k for the car, £4k over the asking price so that was that. To say I was upset/angry is an understatement but it wasn’t meant to be. I know 335i LCI manuals are rare but for some reason this chap was willing to do anything to get this car and I was left with a wasted morning and petrol costs to add insult. Anyhow, you can see why I feel like giving up looking for a manual touring and just getting another 135i but the alpina flash has left me curious. If you were about at some point I’d happily take up your offer to have a browse. I’ll drop you a PM with my mob no. and hopefully we can sort something out sometime. |
