Superchips Gains on a Golf Edition 30
I know this is really offtopic but I find this interesting from a chip perspective.
It's a guy on detailing worlds new Golf Edition 30. That seems a really big gain for a remap 61bhp on a already fairly highly tuned 2 litre golf turbo unit with it now pushing out over 300bhp. The map traces the std. output to about 2500 rpm so I guess this will help get smooth get aways with the benifit at the top end. Over 150bhp per litre just seems a lot for a car but this is the benefit of modern turbo technology. We need more everyday performance cars with a couple of switchable maps so that you can have everyday performance and a more aggresive sports map. I guess this is the Superchips produced graph but they have to back it up. 300bhp through the front wheels sounds a lot also and could give a few people a shock on the road with it's performance.

spose it's possibe...
150bhp per litre sounds about right from a turbo tune. You'd need intake and exhaust too though i would think, same as the 335i |

It is a de-tuned version of the S3 engine, in the Ed30, so really easy to get to 300bhp, not that Id like that through my front wheels. When my car is mapped - oetingger, it will be running 3-310bhp, so much the same as Superchips - but I have the benfit of 4wd!

Still a relatively heavy car the golf etc. I do like them though.
Similar performance to 300bhp tuned Focus ST's!

I don't think they are that heavy and with 300bhp it would have a great power to weight ratio. I just don't think a front wheel drive golf was built with this power output in mind!

Then you swap the fuel pump and there's talk of 330bhp.
The new (suppose it's old now!) MkV chassis can handle it well enough, actually very competently for a FWD. Like Oli says though better with 4WD (and don't forget this engine is also in the A4, with Quatro, if you can ever find a non-diesel A4). Intake and exhaust appear to be fine, at the moment. Intake is a plastic jobbie, so we'll see how reliable it us under boost. Exhaust Manifold is a combined unit - turbine housing and exhaust manifold cast together, so I suspect they'll be nothing on the market, especially when you consider you can already get a GT28RS replacement. Edit: The fuel pump and 330bhp would be from a REAL vag tuner , I don't think Superchips do a map for it.
