MHD S1 or S1+?

Hey guys i have a 2011 335 Xdrive , auto- its stock for now but will be upgrading FMIC soon if i get the tune. Can i go right to 1+?

Also what is input on the MHD, obviously cheaper than Dinan S2, any recommendations?

I would hold off until you get an FMIC. You can try 1+ but make sure to takes logs.

Can I just wing it if it’s just dd and not tracked until I install the fmic?

Want to install tune this weekend -

Sounds like no brained mhd over Dinan s2?

Yes you can try stage 1+, especially if its not too hot out yet. But it would be wise to get the logging function and make sure IAT's don't rise too much and you don't get too many timing corrections.

And Yes 1000% at MHD over Dinan. More gains and a LOT cheaper.

Make sure to add an upgraded charge pipe before stage 1! I installed stage 1 MHD without upgrading my charge pipe and it lasted less than a day.

^Definitely that, I blew my charge pipe on stock tune first day I bought the car lol. It had 50k miles. Definitely upgrade that first if you plan on running a tune.

For a DD S1+ is completely fine. I DD my s1+ with a stock intercooler. But tbh I'd rather upgrade the charge pipe first before the intercooler. (Assuming you don't hammer the car on hot days)

Now charge pipes are all subjective. You can go with one that fits the stock diverter valves, or you can go even one step up and get one with a blow off valve bung, so you can upgrade to a bov. It really depends on your budget.

After the tune though, I recommend the xHP transmission flash. I can't speak of it as I have a 6 spd, but the xHP is maybe the most recommended flash for the autos.

thinking about it, the Dinan S2 required a intercooler too, but most ran it without it

You are probably running very high iat temps not having inter cooler plus a lot of timing corrections your asking for trouble

You can play with S1+ if the weather is cold AND you watch your intake air temp (IAT). I have done it. But for worry-free driving use S1.

Was fun .. I reflashed to s1- thinking about apr fmic.. wish I didn't spend 300 on a evo charge pipe what a waste should of just got apr and saved money- the apr fmic will cost as much as the evo charge pipe -

You are going to want more. Feeling the extra boost is addicting. Just get a CP, DP, and upgrade the fmic and go stage 2+ and call it a day.

Make sure you change your exhaust, downpipe, intake and turbo before stage 1

Ummmmm Yeah no. Stage 1 reflash is for 100% stock, but an upgraded cp is a good idea.

Is it extra money to have the S1 AND the S1+ maps in MHD? I guess that would be the question: does it pay off to buy S1 if you plan to upgrade hardware soon and run S1+?
Also, no exhaust upgrades needed/necessary before the FMIC, or are the equal in importance, or is the FMIC that much needed? Thanks

No it is not extra money. When you buy a stage, you get all the maps in that stage, ie; Stage 1 & Stage1+.
