Dreaded brake squeal at low speeds

While I know this has been beaten to death, I still have not seen any fix that permanently fixes this from what I've read. The threads always end up with either the issue coming back after getting the pads, rotors and sensor replaced by the dealer or the thread just dies with no results. I've searched for probably 5 hours total reading up on it and after calling BMWNA I'm not exactly happy with how they are handling this. If I have to got to aftermarket stuff I have no issue with that, but I can't find anything that says this will fix the issue and spending a few hundred dollars on a hunch isn't a good idea to me.

Not that type of squealing. Low speeds off the brakes after they are warmed up squealing. It's a pretty well documented issue from all I've read. Some people say it's the parking brakes (which the dealer replaced) others the rotors, others the sensor, but nothing confirming any of this.

They do, but like I said not that type of squeaking. Almost metal on metal scraping.

It might very well be a fix, and that's what I'm trying to find out. Did you replace the pads with stock ones, and how long have you been without noise? The spray is used on the outside and is good if you are having brake squeal at all speeds, but just low speeds seems to be a consistent issue with these models.

SIB 34-08-08

Only problem is I can't find a copy to save my life. Every site that had links to it, the link was down. If you know where I can get it, I'd be very grateful

Many have used CRC Brake Quiet and placed it in the back of their brake pads and have eliminated the squeaking. I too am experiencing the squeaks and will be going back for a 3rd time to get it fixed by the dealer. I will be putting CRC Brake Quiet on my pads regardless if they fix it or not after this service.

I just went in to the dealership where I bought my CPO a couple days ago and the SA said it's normal glazing on the sensor. Charged me $85 for the diagnosis. They said there's a recall on the injectors but I opted out of that one and figure I do it locally since I was out of town for business.

If I show my local dealership this SIB, I wonder if they'll fix the squeal then I can ask for a refund from the other dealership!

I had my rotors/pads/brake sensors all changed to new ones and no sound since....it's been at least 2-3 years now.

Would these service bulletins still be free if out of warranty?

I used OEM BMW Brake Pad anti-squeal paste (83192158851, 1 per wheel) and haven't experienced any squealing since applying it when I changed out my brakes several weeks ago. I applied it liberally to the caliper brackets, completely covering the surfaces that contact the pads themselves.

The BMW paste has some metal filament in it while all other pastes I've used before have been synthetic.

Fingers crossed in hoping it lasts.
