N55 Stage 2 Turbo, Catless, BMW PE - Too loud
Good day seniors!
I am starting this thread for a discussion or maybe find a solution for my problems which you might have the answer; N55 E92 Stage 2 hybrid turbo 4 AR Catless (Now converted to 100 cel) BMW PE exhaust The morning cold start is way too loud. The daily driven car also has drones and raspy at low RPMs. Maybe i could call this sound a motorboat sound at 1.5-3 k rpm. At 3.5k rpm the sound is like f1 and feel great. Question : 1) How to get rid of the rasp and drone and reduce cold start loudness problems ? 2) Is n55 e92 Midpipe hollow ? anybody has mod this with Resonators ? 3) Is operating the PE exhaust muffler and stuff with racing straws (to reduce the sound and option ?) I need an option prior further moding of clutch / lsd / engines ... many thanks! |

DPs and catless DPs....that'll wake the dead for sure LOL
I'd try putting a stock exhaust on and sell that raspy "always on" PE. You'll lose power any other way. |

Put a 3" vibrant resonator on, you'll notice how quickly drone decreases marginally and helps with the rasp. I have secondary cats so it'll help keep it down. Let us know what you decide to do.

Catless DP and PE deludes the buyer into thinking your BMW is now a race car... At least it sounds like it, however for daily use it is really annoying.
To reduce drone a possible option is to use "header heat wrap" and wrap your exhaust. I just recently went back to stock DP from AR DP because the dealer would not fix my HPFP and Fuel Rail Sensor while my car was an FBO. |

adding a 2nd muffler (resonator) helps a ton, while also refining the sound.
Exhaust wrap does nothing to sound and will just help corrode your pipes in 5 years. |

I have the BMW PE with AR 4" kittyless and my neighbors hate me. I saw some guys in here with added resonators and it helps with the raspy sound. Let us know if you figure it out, im sure im not the only curious one

Just get rid of the PE. The car is way too loud with both PE and downpipe's. I think it's one or the other. But one of them adds power while the other just brings drone. N55's still sound sick with just the DP and stock exhaust

No rasp with my AA exhaust, I think the X-pipe it comes with might be the reason.
