What is it with wives not wanting to drive an auto?

Mine was the same, despite me telling her it's a piece of cake. Needless to say she had no trouble at all with the transition but oddly claimed that it was no easier to drive than a manual - which is obviously boll*cks!

One of my friend has 2007 (I take it is pre-LCI) 335d (UK) and he has shifter on the steering and normal gearstick like pre-LCI 5/6 series. For 5/6 series SAT (SA2TB as opposed to normal SA205) shifter came with paddle shifts.

What is story of his E90 where he has paddle shifter but no sport button etc! He wants to upgrade to latest shifter, is it possible? He get heavy steering all the time as if power steering is 70% turned off. I get the same heavy steering when I press sports button on my retrofitted SAT which I upgraded on my E60 but that is completely different story.

And yes I love "sports" button.

I've got the standard Auto box with paddles on my 335i. Love it, though your never really in full control. Even in "manual" mode if you nail the throttle past the "kick down" trigger the box will shift down regardless. Its nothing a bit of throttle control cannot handle, but it does feel a bit silly doing 20 mph in 2nd, flooring the throttle and the box shift down to first for 0.2 sec before it rev limiter it hit and has to shift back up to 2nd.

Still now that I'm now use the auto box doing think I'll be buying a manual car again, getting too old to lazy

Garage List
In complete honesty, the only time I'd ever use the paddles would be in traffic. There's just the very odd occasion in D where it's in the wrong gear as I want to nip onto a roundabout or out of a junction, and it takes a second to work out what I want it to do.

For more enjoyable driving, on A and B roads I haven't found a situation yet that DS wasn't in the right gear for. Especially in a diesel, the way it holds onto the revs means the turbo is always spooled up and ready to go.

Steering Wheel Paddle Shifter

I broke my right paddle shifter for my X5 part number: 61319241799. Dealership wants to charge me $699 for part and installation. I have searched everywhere but hard to find for reasonable price. Is there a replacement that will fit?
