Ive been DIY tinting my car with WMT-bought cheap stuff, and Ive had good success after 3 attempts. I finally got a technique down after watching a ton of youtube videos. I'm now getting pretty good at it... If you are interested in trying this yourself and maybe for family/friends, go to http://stores.geoshieldusa.com/mens/
You can order the film itself directly from them at wholesale prices! $180 will get you Geoshield Ceramic 40% in a 24" x 100 ft roll, which is enough to do about 5-6 cars. It's only slightly more than wmt, but much better quality. I bought the 36" wide roll for $270 since some back windows are huge. Wmt doesn't sell any wider than 24". Also, some windows taper so much toward the front, if you cut the film right, you can overlap the side window patterns several inches and save some.

Just got mine 2007 e92 328xi in BSM tinted 15% all around (except front windshield). I got it done at Shades of Grey in Feasterville, Pa which is right outside of Philadelphia. The guys there were very experianced and very cool to deal with. They charged me only $160 which was slightly discounted due to group buy with 2 friends that got their cars done the same day. They use Llumar ATF charcoal tint.

New to the forum
I am new to the forum and just got my ride a couple months ago. Tinting was the first mod. 3m film 35% front and 20% rear.

Where did you get the roundel logo for the back window? Is it just a vinyl?

Did anyone experience scratches on tint from lowering the windows? I cleaned the window and trim to make sure no sand or dust was there. After tint cured, I lowered the window and scratched it on the first pass. Anyone have same issue?
I have 335 e90 LCI. Tint is llumar. |

What is the best window film brand ?
Hello,
As this thread is at a good position in Google I found it and I dare to ask if you can tell me what is for you the best brand for window film ? And what is the difference between brands ? It seems also that the % means nothing and change from one brand to another ? I saw here some 40% that look as dark as 15% for other brands ? Thank you for your info. At http://stores.geoshieldusa.com/ Many brands have multiple product lines. Visually some may look darker or lighter, even though they have the same VLT% because they each block a different wavelength range of light, depending on the composition.

I want to get my windows done this week, but question to all on here!!!
Did you install the fabric strips or whatever people on here are talking about so the windows don't get scratched??? I keep reading about the tint getting scratches in it without some type of fabric on the window sill being installed? Want to confirm, as none of my other cars had to have that.

Not exactly sure what percentage tint it is, but I was told by the dealer it was darkest legal tint for my area. However sometimes from some angles it looks very light, probably hard to tell but would anyone be able to estimate around what percentage tint it would be?

35% GeoShield Pronano Ceramic all around, plus sunroof.
Claimed 76% IR Rejection and 99% UV Rejection. It does noticeably keep the car cooler.

Anything darker than 20% looks cheesy IMO. Sorta ricer. Maybe it's because I grew out of my early 20s, lol. I hate the 20% the previous owner had installed on my E92!
