Cool Suspension Upgrade Input- 2007

Hello everyone, I’m looking for some input in suspension replacement.
I recently purchased a 2007 335i and my pre purchase inspection recommended I replace the struts as they are original ~160k miles. I am open to replacing to a full coilover kit or replacing just the struts. I have read a few mixed reviews regarding Bilstein saying they drop the car too much. Another kit option would be BC Racing.

I would like to stay around $999.99 range if possible. I daily drive the car roughly 80-100 miles/ day. I do like the lowered look but not to the point the tires tuck excessively. My goal is to continue to drive daily and weekend track/race option. As far as the look goes minimal wheel gap with a 245/35-275/35/19 tire. Car currently has 19” M3 style 67 wheels on factory sized tires 225/40-255/35/19.

Thanks in advanced. Let me know if I am missing any details to help with decision making.

Get some Koni Orange or Yellow shocks. They will both pair well with either your stock springs or some mild lowering springs. You'll be under a grand even with the more expensive yellows. BimmerWorld and AutoHance have the best prices on them.

FYI, I had Bilsteins (Yellow B6) on my car for about 10K miles, and while they made it handle like a Porsche, it made the ride unbearably stiff over anything but perfect pavement.

Had Konis Special Actives installed today, and will report back when I get the car Monday (shop is waiting on an alignment). They may be the perfect solution for what you're looking for.

My OE dampeners were shot by 120K miles, FYI. Currently have 145K on mine.

BCR makes decent stuff but they ride bouncy over bad roads. Bilsteins have probably almost double the amount of travel the BCR does. Also, they increased the price to ~1300.

Koni yellows are still the goto for upgrades, able to adjust rebound only and you can run a coilover sleeve to adjust height if you want.

OE plus suspension options

I really like the spring rates and dampening of my ST-X set-up (Same as KV-1 except galvanized front shock). I will caution however that the rear shocks seem to fail prematurely. I am going to try replacing the rear shocks with Koni yellows and see how they pair with the progressive springs. New, they are more money, but used sets are available for under $1000.

Man, they've really jacked the prices up over the last while. ~6 mo ago I paid less in Canadian $ than what they're currently advertised at in $USD. And that was already higher than 6 months before that.

ST & KW have $100 off from time to time if you wait.
