Tell me about it face palm!
We'll Bluetooth calling works. Bluetooth audio streaming works and sounds great. Arm rest USB charging works. Cannot control iPhone from armrest. Always says nothing connected on external device ? Is there a iPod vo$ I'm missing? My snap in never worked. No power no fan no connection. Shame. I'm only running 1 wire from combox to USB armrest for now until I feel like tackling another headache again. Now to get bmw apps to work. For this I believe I need to update my cic firmware to c16? I also installed a cic lci Center trim and idrive controller today. Took a whole 10mins and works great. I love the short cuts. Plug and play! My Sirius tuner doesn't show an esn# on the subscription screen. Wonder why. I did take a picture of the label for when I want to activate it. Big day! Thank you for that most wiring diagram. I really believe future retro fitters will benefit from it. Pm me your paypal. I'd like to send a little gift! But I'll need you until everything works lol! |

Oh ya. My microphone doesn't seem to be working anymore for voice control. Worked before I got that combox and Bluetooth enabled. Either i need to add a 2nd mic or do that wiring pin out swap I read about?

no no no and no .... thank you for your kind offer but ill have to decline.....im here to help folks and also learn myself.....
as for the snapin.....did you have the usb cable from the combox plugged into it? if so and it still didn't work then you might be missing some voltage supply to the snap in......ill have to have a look around.... bmw apps will not work till you get the snapin working, as this is what needs to be working to get bmw apps... just a note....I have never messed with the microphone on my car and the pinout from tcu to combox should already be in place with your adapter. does your Bluetooth hands free work ok? mic etc.? as im sure this would use the same mic.... also just looked at your pics again and can you just confirm how many wires are in your original tcu connector in the boot? the white connector....from the photo there doesn't seem to be many |

ok this mic got me thinking a little.....because your mic worked ok before and you got the combox working....
I think your mic went straight to the ccc unit...now the cic unit. this worked ok till you got the combox working... now the combox is working , the Bluetooth and voice control expects the mic input to be at the combox and not the cic unit. so if im correct you need to wire the mic from the cic to the combox.... no need to worry about this yet.....just having a brain fart lol just an update on this....ive been looking through my .trc file for the cic. it might be worth trying the following before you start with the wires....have a browse in your .trc file for the cic for: MIC_OVER_MOST if its set to aktiv - try setting it to nicht_aktiv Last edited by terminator2k2; 07-24-2014 at 04:00 PM.. |

I think he might have to repin his mic wiring at the passenger side foot well for the MIC to work properly. I remember reading this from previous Bluetooth retrofit threads.

Hey guys just updating while feeding my kids mic was working after cic retrofit but before getting my combox running. I'll look at the trc cic options if not footwell mic pinouts. Keep you posted!

I think pichadis11 is right with this....he has done it himself
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=660738 need to repin the white connector behind the glove box as the mic now needs to go to the combox and not the cic..... removing the glove box ,not something I enjoyed doing when I did my dension 500 see even im learning something..... Perfect. That's what I thought. Too bad I already removed my glovebox for the cic retrofit. Takes me 60 seconds to remove it. No biggie. I can now remove my cic radio climate control and display in under 2mins flat hah. Very easy. Reminds me of my Subaru days!

okay, I'll need to read up more on the mic wiring. I went to my car, removed the footwell panel + glovebox + cup holders in.. 2 minutes! lol.
Found the white plug, has more than 6 wires in it and doesn't correspond with the link above.. there is talk about others with different wiring setups. So I'll read up more. Put it back together for another day.

I just checked and all 3 fuses are present. I'll go see if they're not burnt!
Also. There's that black plug that is included with the base plate. I'm assuming it plugged into the ccc radio before to get its power. But even with the ccc radio it didn't power on either. Last edited by jezzy; 07-25-2014 at 12:15 PM.. |

Terminator. I believe the adaptor I got from bimmerretrofit is aligned with your diagram. Wasn't many wires in that adaptor. 12 or so.
I just plugged the black USB for Combox to armrest USB. It charges. But once plugged into snap in. Nothing again. I'm going to assume that the black 20 pin plug that's part of the base plate and plugged into my armrest includes a power wire. I'd have to trace it to the front of the car. Perhaps that emulator I'm using isn't sending power if at all related? I don't remember if I tried the base plate when I removed the emulator the other day. I also emailed bimmerretrofit asking them if their tcu to combox adapter includes any snap in related wires. |

Black combox USB is hooked up. Black fakra with purple lock is hooked up. I believe it's the Bluetooth wire. I saw the same cooled wire when I plugged in my
Bluetooth antenna. And that square 20 pin plug. All plugged in. I'm reading up on 6nf and iPhone 4s charging issues. Perhaps a 4s and media cradle issue. I'll try out with an old iPod touch and see if it changes anything. |

cant find much info on the snap in.....
but the combox is ok if you have used the combox snap in usb and it charges... ive read some where, after you said you had a problem, that the snap in could be at fault. if you want to test bmw apps etc plug your combox snap in usb , back into the arm rest usb and use a iphone cable. your external devices - snap in should be active..... |

I just tried my USB with my iPhone. It sees my iPhone plugged into the USB. Controls the music on it. Shows the cover art for that 1 song I have on it. I opened bmw connected but my cic office doesn't show any apps only contacts.
