2007 e91 N52 Broken Breather hose / Leaking Valvetronic Gasket

Hi All,

I have a question, i replaced my valve cover gasket(s) about a month and a half ago, VCG, Valvetronic Gasket,etc....

I recently noticed smoke coming from the engine bay about a month ago and i found that the VVT motor gasket was filling the walls in between the spark plugs, and running down to the headers...

after replacing the VVT motor gasket twice first time with black gasket maker and now with Red RTV, i find it highly improbably that the gasket is the source of the issue.

i was looking around my engine bay and found that the Breather hose behind the valve cover (OEM part # 11157559528) has broken in half (and is currently ziptied until part arrives this week)

Could the vacuum leak from this breather hose be the cause of the VVT gasket leaking?

Thanks in advance!

I'm fighting this hose myself. I am replacing with a dabbed hose due to the wrong part showing up in the mail.

I know it's a vacuum line, I just need to know if this could be something else or if the broken vacuum line could cause it to leak out the gasket?

No.

Check for correct orientation and seating of the gasket and possible crack of the VC around the area.

^So you don't think excessive crankcase pressure could contribute?

There can’t be pressure build up if that hose is broken. The only way the ccv gets closed is by enough vacuum from the intake. With the hose broken no vacuum from intake, ccv is open fully, all crankcase pressure will go out of the broken hose section.

Grab "the right stuff" and reapplied a new gasket for the 3rd time with a new hose. Hopefully this fixes this issue or I'm gonna have to look at replacing valve cover.

I am trying to disconnect breather hose from valve cover, but find it's very difficult to disconnect it. Any trick here?
