It's been discussed to no end.
Get inpa + cable (from bimmer geek or somewhere else) You could do carly for bmw you could do bimmer link now that it supports e series of cars. |

BMW Tools / INPA is best IMO. The phone apps are getting better, but there's always something missing or some limitation on what you can do. Plus other than the cable, it's free.
Another thing is often the scanners or apps are missing context in their error code translations. Or worse, you get generic P-codes and not BMW specific codes. There's also ProTool for android. It's basically BMW Tools with about 90% of the functionality built in. I keep a bluetooth dongle in my map pocket, it's nice if I'm on the road and need to diagnose something (or want to play with logging). But I still use my laptop/INPA when I have access to it. |
