Is it possible to change on the E90 the CD Changer to a DVD Changer?

The factory CD changer plays MP3. Yet a 6 disc DVD Changer would be a alternative to an iPod intergration. 6 disks @ 8.5GB each = 51GB. This will be sufficient for many people.

So does BMW offer a DVD Changer that will work in E90? If 5/7 series have that, could replacement be a plug-n-play job?

I don't think thats what he was asking. From what I gather dim wants to know if the trunk-mounted CD changer can be swapped to a DVD changer so that he'll have greater Mp3 capacity among the discs. Doesn't seem like he's interested in DVD video or any of that, just more storage space.

Thanks for clarifying my question GregL. This is exactly what I wanted. I read that some cars on the market have DVD changers now.

So it seems like it is a matter of time until the 3 series gets it in Canada (we are always last - our govn't still hasn't approved active cruise control for the S-Class, etc)...

Does the 5 series in other markets have DVD Changer (to play MP3s) that can replace the stock CD changer on the 3? Assuming the I-Drives are the same, that's ok, right?

dvd changer sounds nice.. it's worth the $ if you can watch movies from it.. better than the rip off ipod interface.. just a cable and someware is not worth $500.

I guess this means nobody knows... If I were you, I'd maybe ask an audio shop if they'd be willing to test plug an Alpine DVD changer to the trunk hook-up in an E90 and see what happens. IF the plug is even the same.

As for the S-Class active cruise, I had no idea it was/is delayed because of pending government approval, is it the same for the E90's here?. I always figured that since the M35/45 Infiniti has had it since...March '05 that it wouldn't be a hindrance regardless of make or model, was under the impression that someone in BMW decided not to offer it in our market. Interesting.
