JK a bit about the Brook since I grew up there, but in all honesty there are four locations that are very ghetto. Gov't funded homes, drugs, guns, and gang bangers. All other areas are ok, but I wouldn't say just another suburb. Two yrs ago a gang banger was found 50 yds from my mother's house with a hole in his head. My mother lives in a decent area but you have to go through a bad one to get there. Yeah, the Promenade is pretty nice.

I live at Division and Clark, though now that Cabrini Green is all but gone, and a new Target store is going up next to new condos and townhomes, we have had to 3 urders within a block of the house in the last 3 months, 2 were stabbings, 1 gun shot, always late night. Does Bollingrook have flashmobs, wilding, SRO hotels, full time dealers on the corners? We do, and I dont consider that Ghetto, its just the city, I know all the cats faces/MO dealing in my hood, low level stuff, the police let them do their thing as they are eyes and ears on the street for the really bad guys when something bad goes down, who else is up at 4am on a sunday night around here...haha...When I moved to Chicag in 91, you didnt even dare drive down division at night to 94...now you can walk thru no issues.

Crime is all relative. So what if there is HUD housing, 95% of those people are hard working and not making any trouble...

Humbolt Park area is a issue I would be concerned about, lot of new condos/refurbishes but has gang activity and also low level crime on the streets 24/7...by buddy bought a great place, a huge 4 bedroom with a garage for $300K but you need to keep your eyes peeled and watch it at night...Maywood, Berwyn can be ghetto...

Yes, to answer your other question. Drug deals on the street, gang activity at night in those four areas. I have friends from high school on the police force and 75% of their time is spent in those areas. Listen, I lived in bolingbrook for 20 yrs and my family since 1972. The only thing keeping Bolingbrook from becoming another Maywood is the fact that it is still surrounded by normal suburbs such as Naperville and now Plainfield (which was all farm when I was a kid), and people keep buying newer homes but are not aware of those areas.
