On 6/19, I had 87,400 mi.
Now, 92,800 mi. Still no problems to report, other than expected water pump and tstat replace. Quote:

How many of those miles were stock vs procede? Any other mods? Oil change intervals?

Oil change intervals about every 8k. I changed the spark plugs too, because I had no records indicating the previous owner had done it. I'm probably going to change the ignition coils soon, but I'm getting good fuel efficiency and performance, so I don't know if it's anything to gain by doing so. These cars run well when driven regularly. My daily travel ranges from 30 minutes to 4 hours, usually on the longer range of the spectrum. I think since the engine and all parts almost always get up to full operating temperature, and then stay there for a while, they will actually last longer.

I am at 60k. Here are the issues my car has had:
Warped rotors Split charge pipe x2 Split seam on radiator reservoir x2 Rear window gasket failure x3 Massive failure of dct/dst/e-diff resulting in car becoming near uncontrollable at speeds higher than 55, and rear wheel spin from stop with even mild throttle Automated headlight failure Radio emitting screeching/screaming noises even when turned off Cup holder sticking closed. Other than that, it's been normal maintenance, battery cable recall (still waiting on VANOS recall), or minor repairs for minor accidents, and some additional headlight tweaking due to the M Sport suspension I had the dealership install. (the warped rotors were the reason for the steering wheel shake I reported on in page 2 of this thread, btw)

2011 335i 6MT rwd 48k miles. Cobb stage 1 tuned for like 7k miles.
Just had both Vanos assemblies replaced because 3 of the 4 bolts on the exhaust side vanos gear had backed out and one of them had sheared the head off completely (ending up in the bottom of the oil pan). Got new valve cover and oil pan gaskets, and the engine was re-timed in addition to the vanos stuff. Thank god for CPO because the recall is still "pending" and I would have had to pay for it all out of pocket! Almost $3k it would have been they said.

A paper business card does the trick for me if you rarely use the cupholder. Just keep one laying around.

Lol thanks for the tip I never thought of that, the cup holder problem has become such a big issue there's recommended techniques to pull it out. Paper business cards ftw

36k miles as of this morning.
Just bought the car towards the end of August though. Service records and CPO inspection papers given to me at delivery didn't note anything too bad except maybe a leaking CV boot or something like that. I dropped off the car this morning to take care of the VANOS bolt recall as well as two things I noticed in my first month of ownership:

wow amazing. Did you change coils, fuel injectors, Power steering pump fluids? Is timing belt/chain part of maintenance at some point? I got 75k at the moment bought at 71k, so looking at water pump/tstat soon. Car pulls hard when necessary but when driven normal it gives amazing fuel mileage, almost on par as Honda Civic. you can't beat that. |

Haha, I did love that coupe, but it was an xDrive 328 w/AT. Nothing fundamentally wrong with it but it just wasn't the right fit for me. Tons of fun and quick enough, to be honest. Manual would have been great though and would have made it even tougher to trade in. I know how to drive manual (had a WRX and GTI that were both manuals before), but went automatic due in part to the future permanent roommate's requirements and other factors.
I just wanted something more practical for taking friends around and for more general practicality. The awesome color combo (pics are in my profile/garage list) and the extra performance certainly didn't hurt either! Also, the dealership couldn't find anything wrong with the longer cranks when the engine is warm nor did they find any issues with the rough shifting at lower speeds. They ran their diagnostics and did some test drives, etc. I decided to take the car back to see if the issues persist/get worse and they said they'd be happy to take another look at it if needed.

fuel injectors - No Power steering pump fluids - No Timing chain -No Spark Plugs - Yes Water pump and thermostat housing at 89k miles as noted in my signature block. I probably should change my coils, and power steering fluid, but the car runs great and gets 28 mpg overall. Mostly highway driving. I think I might get a walnut blast, if for nothing more than its 100k mile birthday present... I probably do need new bushings all around, and I really want to put some KW Coilovers in, but working on paying down the credit card first!

2011 335i, hit 56k the other day. Car's running great! I've got a noisy blower motor in the cold, but that's about it. I'm going to try carefully clean it out and lubricate it if possible.
