Symptoms of a DEAD FRM **Archive**
After 6 months of painstaking research and close to 15 hours of remote coding sessions to get my 335's headlights/taillights/turn signals/etc to work to no avail... I swapped FRM's and instantly everything came back to normal. That said, the issues were so quirky that we thought it was either bad wiring, or a coding issue - NOT a faulty FRM.
There was also no thread that consolidated the common symptoms found from having a faulty FRM (aka: Footwell Control Module). So for future reference here's a list of issues I experienced from having a bad FRM (this list is not exhaustive by any means): - No AHL/adaptive headlights - Headlight switch was non-functioning - Headlights constantly stayed on - Brake lights were stuck on rear fogs - No reverse lights - Center vent dash lights were off - No right turn signal (at all!) - Left turn signal turned and stayed on until you completed a turn- the stalk would not cancel the turn signal If you experience some or many of these issues, it may be worth looking into replacing your FRM with another unit. The swap is easy and they can be found for relatively cheap. And please free to add any symptoms you may have experienced if you too had a bad FRM. Nothing is more frustrating than having small quirky electrical gremlins that you can't figure out. Hopefully this helps ease the pain for anyone else who might be experiencing similar headaches with their e90 on the future. |

I blew mine when disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. Very unlucky. My Windows didn't work, dash didn't light, mirrors couldn't move, headlights stuck in safe mode (on always), no interior lights worked. But my sunroof, radio and trunk lights were all fine. TBH if you posted your problem in the electrical section I'm guessing they would have told you that your FRM was bad right away (if you didn't already post it). They responded in a few hours when I asked.
