Most A/T on the road will give you best possible gear if you put your foot to the floor but sometimes high RPM downshift request are denied if you're not at the right speed. I feel like with BMW, it doesn't matter if it only kicks down for 1 second. It WILL give you that passing gear whenever you want.

wow am I glad I came across this thread. Learned about something new and then was ready to try it out while driving home yesterday.
Even better, some guy in a Mustang (2002 or so) decided to race me with a rolling start. boy did I smoke him thanks to the little black button. |
