spongy clutch
I haven't driven my car in a week and tonight when I went to put my car into reverse it wouldn't go in. I couldn't get it to go into any forward gear either. I released the clutch pedal and pressed it again and noticed it felt soft and spongy, so I pumped it a few times and I was then able to get it into reverse. I made a few trips and had no problems.
I sometimes have difficulty getting my car into reverse or first while stopped, and also occasionally get a thud from what sounds like the rear end when I do get it into gear. I'm thinking I may need to bleed the clutch. Perfect excuse to buy a Power Bleeder, I've been wanting one for a while. |

Get a power bleeder and bleed the brake system and clutch. The E90 clutch was the first clutch I couldn't bleed using a helper. I found the only way to bleed the E90 clutch hydraulics is with a power bleeder.
The clutch slave cylinder is hard to bleed because the bleeder valve faces the tunnel wall. If you can't get to the valve, you can pull the slave cylinder from the bell housing and blench bleed it (sort of) by using a clamp compress and retain the piston; it will pop out otherwise. |

FROM a search, I pop this tread out .
Issue : I dont remmeber how my clutch feel . - Ive swapped the engine, transmission, clutch (twin disk) and did the clutch delay valve. - Ive bleed twice the clutch with the pressure tank. - the master cylinder remain on the car I was use to drive. Now , feels like few first inches is nothing. Clutch grip around 3/4 pedal run. and it feel smooshie. Yes the pedal spring is there. Ive realized when I took the audi this morning, my pedal is firm on all position, and the clutch will react on all pedal position. |

In my experience the clutch self bleeds itself with use in this car. I had once completely drained the clutch fluid while doing CDV replacement (rust makes any work on the car exponentially more difficult). I had then refilled and bled, but pedal had no resistance and not working. Then after a few pumps it got some resistance only at the end of its travel, but was enough to change gears. Drove next day, it went back to normal as I used it.

found my answer on the 1st minutes of this video (starts a 32sec). exactly like my clutch feels .
So to improve the feel - clutch delay valve delete (already done) - clutch pedal stop (ordered) - clutch pedal spring : either smaller spring or delete it. |

twice with the pressure method.
The video explain exactly what I have, so my car is 100% fine. I just took to much time in the clutch replacement and dont remember if it was normal. Also daily drive a audi, where the clutch feel is not the same. |
