Best way to isolate which cylinder(s) is to remove all plugs after an overnight stop. Any plugs that are black, wet and stink of petrol are the likely suspects.

I recently had to address severe injector leaks on my N53 (engine wouldn't run properly at all, even after sparks and coils).
I bought used off eBay and tested them on the fuel rails by connecting them externally and cranking the engine over. I bought 6 from different sellers and managed to get 3 that passed this driveway pressure test. The engine runs much better but I still have some minor leaking occurring. I'll probably pull plugs to find out which ones as Phil recommended. The test I did was okay, but only checks the injectors at cold temps, not the operational temp of the injector when it's in the head. I'm also in the position as soup, the car is at 145k miles now and even if I could buy new, £2k+ just seems a mental expense at this point. |
