I tapped into the 12V from the back of the HU & then I noticed I had coded incorrectly:

I had:

rvc_cic wert_23

but I had different pins, so need to use:

rvc_cic wert_21

Yes, the camera comes on eachtime put into reverse! I haven't done any kind of proper testing - today was just getting it to work. Now I've got to resort the wiring as I've made a mess trying to find the fault.

Very pleased with myself!

Well done.
Enjoy the reverse camera. Very useful in tight spaces.

Cheers mate..... I just got to install it now!

For future ref: case anyone else buys this emulator.... I've just double check & the fault is with the white power wire coming from the emulator! You need to connect the power +12v of the camera to the actual power line going to the CIC (as Tofu suggested) & NOT emulator!

In that case camera is constantly on when the car is running.
It will decrease the lifetime of the camera.
You should inform the seller.
Also if I was you, I would connect it to reverse light so it turns on only when the car is in reverse.

I cannot remember from the top of my head but brown is earth.
If you take out one of the boot lid light cluster, you can track the metallic plate going to reverse light. Then remember the pin linked to it and trace the wire attached to it.

yeah that's definitely a defect in the emulator.

my white power wire worked fine

makes me question the quality of these emulators even more now... maybe i DID get two duds.

Looks good, finally a cheapish yet useful mod for BMW's!

Looking to do this mod too and have started to install as received all my parts today but have am a bit confused with the camera wiring.

Most of the cameras out there seem to have 2 wires - Reverse light +ve and ground. My camera has a power supply converter with the following (sadly no instructions or wiring diagram with the camera).

Yellow wire which goes to 12v battery
Grey wire which goes to parking lamp anode
Black wire which goes to ground

There is also another red wire coming out of the yellow phono lead.

Does anyone else have this - as this means there will be a constant feed as well as a switched. Ideally I only want the switched. Am I right in thinking I just need to use the yellow wire and not connect the grey wire?

As my car has front PDC too I need to get the switched from the PDC switch on the dash I think (if the emulator white wire does not work that is), so that it triggers with front or back PDC and the switch a la factory fit operation.

your assumptions appear to be correct.

The red wire from the RCA plug is only used if you are powering the cam from the emulator. think of it merely as an "extension".

the trio of wires as well as the "filter" are used if you're powering it off of the reverse light

Unfortunately, no customer services.
I have sent them three e-mails in last one month. Not a single response. Checked junk mail as well.

Good luck with your venture though.

It is quite possible that your emails are going to their spam folder. I only received a reply after I had send a price inquiry from alibaba. A friend of mine also tried to contact them a couple weeks ago via email with no response. Alex always gets back to me at around 4am EST reliably.

It is the weekend now, so probably no response till monday
