Pre LCI and LCI E92
How's things.
Brand dew to the forum It's probably been asked before. What is the difference between the Pre LCI and LCI E92. I have a pre LCI 320 d m sport and love it. I was just wondering if it's worth up grading the parts etc. Cheers guys. Loughy |

Upgrade to LCI rear lights is well worth it IMO.
Effortless to do (providing you get the adapter cable) Bumpers etc are not worth it if you already have m-sport. |

The Pre-LCI has single Halogen bulb to power the a pair of Angel eyes, the colour is amber.
The LCI uses separate LED for each ring so the white light is distributed evenly. Most Pre-LCI owners replace the halogen bulb with a aftermarket LED. You need to be careful with the upgrade here as some people fit the most powerful bulb. The bumpers have very little difference |

Just to piggy back an old thread with a similar question. I'm wanting to purchase a diesel coupe. I would rather have the m57 to avoid the timing chain issue. Was it only the 325d that was the m57 or was it older 330d as well? When was the change over year. My shortlist has an 09 and a 10, both of which look broadly similar. Thanks in advance guys, total BMW noobie

My 56 plate 330d is M57. I think they changed to N57 for the LCI model which is what you'd get if you bought an 09/10 car. I also think the timing chain issue was only the 4 cylinder N47 engines as well as the 4 cylinder petrol engines.
All the above info apart from my car being an M57 could be wrong and i'm sure somebody with more knowledge will be along shortly to clarify if so. |

I have a 59 plate LCI whish is a december build 2009 325d and mines the M57 engine, i think they switched to N57 in early 2010.
The chain issue wasnt limited to 4 cylinders, the 6 cylinder models also suffered. Not sure how widespread it really was though. Reading the forums you only really hear of the failures not the thousands out there that are perfectly fine. As a side note the N57 325/330d's still have swirl flaps, not sure if they are still an issue. The M57 325d does not have swirl flaps for some reason even tho the M57 330d does have them. Not sure why BMW chose to use a different inlet manifold between the two varients of M57? Last edited by Silver Streek; 01-25-2020 at 08:53 AM.. |
