Who Bought HP Autowerks Harold's Quaife LSD and had it installed?
Harold over at HP Autowerks said he has shipped many LSD's over here in the NJ NY area but can't recommend any shops. Im trying to figure out what reliable install shops I can go to who has done this install before. I am looking for a shop in the NY NJ area. Any ideas anyone?

Are you having Harold install the lsd in a diff for you and ship it as a whole unit or are you looking for someone to install it into your existing diff?
I can swap the entire pumpkin for you as i am doing with Dans car, its a lot easier. I dont have the proper tools for the job to press the bearings out and shim it correctly. Harold will charge you for the core, which will be refunded once he gets your oem diff back. |

I believe its pre-installed.. From what harold said over the phone was that all you would need to do is bolt it on and provide the gear oil since I do NOT have a welded diff. Does that help any?
btw i'm not sure who dan is |

got one
I bought one from HP. Have the AT with bolt on quaife option. Bought just the QUaife unit and switched out the internals. Installed it at my shop. Took about six hours. My tech said it was the easiest Diff he has ever done considering this is a BMW and was expecting it to be hard....er. lol. Really tho, no special tools required. Have been running it for about a month with no issues. Ass-end comes out really nice. Does some sweet controlled drifting too now. No more loss of control in wheel spins. Take off is noticeably improved as well. If you cant find anyone up there, feel free to hit me up in SJ. We'll do it for 500-600 bucks.

If you're going to do a core charge and want a rebuilt diff, go with VAC or Diffsonline. I went with another vendor and it's been nothing but a headache. My diff has gear whine and whatever money / time I saved by going with the rebuilt option has been offset by having to send it back and pay for more swaps than necessary.
If Harold is providing you a final drive, then it's a simple swap and any reputable shop can take on the task. If he's sending you JUST the Quaife and you want to mate it to your existing drive, then yes you'll have to be a bit more picky. No special tools are required but you'll want to ensure the shop is detail oriented and works in a clean environment. |

Yea VAC motorsports wants 1751 for the install. They also want the car to sit there for two days because they said it takes time to setup backlash and some other things which take 8 hours minimum. I had a hard time trying to figure out why the price was so high. The guy was kinda vague

people on here know me to be very good with pricing as well as backing up my work if need be. So far Ive had but one case where the customer nit-picked me about something that he tried to blame on me but wasnt even related to any work I did.... |
