12 miles today in between thunderstorms. City residential streets and bike trail. Nice autumn afternoon.

No riding today as busy cleaning the house.
Yesterday went riding in good weather in between showers to look for an open fuel station which I eventually found with a fuel tanker delivery at my usual station. So rushed back home and got the car to there before it started filling more with cars and after about 35 minutes was at the pump with no fuel restrictions.

Yikes, still a mess over there with that nonsense, eh? That's rough.

By the time I've used my replenished tank the situation should be resolved

Spent yesterday afternoon trying to pedal around rain clouds. You can actually do that in South Florida because at times they're small and raining directly on small areas so you can have rain on one street and a few streets down be totally dry.

Refuel stop by a canal:

Had a few days like that here this summer. Weird pop-up showers that rain in one place while it's sunny all around.

16 miles out-back ride on a regional trail. It will probably be my standard ride unless I find something better. Getting to the regional trail requires crossing some busy roads (pedestrian signal). If I can find a route that avoids these crossings it will be an improvement.

Nice autumn morning.

Same here. Our trail that I ride most days is only 2 miles from my house, but it means crossing a nasty main artery with no traffic lights. Waiting for a gap in traffic from both sides is a pain, as is clipping in and out. So I drive up to the trail with the bike on the rack and then ride. Trying to cross that road just isn't worth the risk or the hassle.

I was in Everyready Bunny mode today. I was going to do 15-20 miles, but felt good after 20, so I kept going.

I'm going to try taking a day out of the saddle. Just finished a morning walk and might do a short hike out at the lake later.

I had an extremely low speed "crash" this morning. Separated myself from the bike so i could fall (tuck/roll) properly but i thought there couldn't possibly be any damage because i was going like 3 mph. WRONG.

The rear derailleur was so bent that the chain wouldn't even stay on the cassette. Luckily it was a simple hanger replacement that cost me 20 bucks. I was nervous though! And now my precious has some battle scars

Ugh. Hate it when that happens. My baby has scars from a simple fall off the bike rack. At least this one didn't cost you big bucks. My recent low speed spill ruined a helmet, but the helmet saved my head. So I was ok buying a new helmet.

I have 2 Bontrager Wave Cell helmets. One in white and one in "radioactive yellow."

I've accumulated a few to rotate on a regular basis. I wash them after every ride. Three of them are run of the mill brands. The Louis Garneau ®is my only Snell certified one.

I only buy Snell-certified helmets. My Snell bicycle helmet was difficult to find ten years ago, and is due for replacement because it spent way too long baking in the race car hauler.

BMW trivia - The BMW-branded flip-face helmets sold in the 1980's at their motorcycle dealerships (made by Schuberth?) were *not* Snell-certified, which is why I never owned one.....
