So on 2009 cars as well? Do the dealers charge or do you simply ask to update the navi?

If you have hard drive navigation, this thread will answer your questions:

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=391794

In short, dealer is charging around $350 to do the install.

However it looks like in that thread, tischer is charging for the dealer given install disks...

hmm, I burned @ 8X and it won't recognize in my 2008. I am going to burn at 2.4X and see what it does. I used HP DVD +R media.

Why 2 discs?

My e90 (2006 330i) only has 1 dvd for the whole country and Canada.

I've upgraded the dvd twice since I bought the car. Noticed very little change. Not to worry, the price was right.

Hi, I downloaded all 13 parts, how do I merge them? They all seem to have the same content.
Thanks

Does the update work for 2003 X5?

Do I need a firmware update before using the 2010.1 update? I have a 2003 X5 3.0i.

I burned the ISO image on a Sony DVD-R and also tried on Verbatim DVD+R, but the navigation in the car still says "Invalid DVD or CD".

I burnt the DVD using my laptop that has Philips DVD drive. Do I need to burn using a device where I need to specify "DVD-ROM" as the Book Type? I used ImgBurn software.

Please let me know what works for you. What hardware are you using to burn - is it a laptop/desktop dvd drive or an external dvd burner?

Here's an update: I installed the latest firmware V32 (4-1/00) using the instructions on the website http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=484882 and it worked perfectly. Now, the old Navigation DVD shows better maps and auto-rotation of map is one feature that stands out after the firmware update. I did not update the splash screen btw.

However, I can't get the 2010.1 navigation dvd that I burned using my laptop's Philips dvd drive to work - when I insert it, the navigation system says "Invalid DVD or CD...". Any suggestions?

EDIT: Never mind. I found a DVD+R laying around. I'm burning right now.
Hopefully this works so I don't have to buy more.

EDIT2: It's working for me. 'Red Light and Speed Cameras' shows up in the menus.
After searching for them, they show up on the map as little camera icons just like the old disc.

Looks like a few of the icons have changed, such as traffic disruptions and such on the freeways. I prefer the older ones.

In short: rambalu80 disc 2 with cams confirmed working.
Can you please share how you burned the DVD? Please describe the hardware used (burner, disk), the software used, and the settings (speed, book type, etc.).

Sorry to threadjack, but didn't think my question was worthy of a new thread. What new features (besides updated roads/points of interest) does the 2010 navigation software offer?

That's it. Nothing else is ever updated with newer NAV discs.

Just finished downloading both discs last night. I'll be seeding for a few days to help out. Together the discs took approx 8 hrs. Thanks guys!

Anyone with burning issues... burn at the slowest possible speed on your burner (1X or 2X) and avoid using RW discs.

For those having issues with *.rar content, use the WinRar utility to extract. If anyone needs a good free utility to mount and burn ISO images, gBurner is a good one.

Sorry if I'm reposting anything...

Those are solid tips. I would also add ImgBurn to the list of good burning software to use. Incidentally, the ISO burning software native to windows 7 worked like a charm as well.

Any additional tips - specifically about "Volume Label", burner (which model, type, etc), Book Type, etc?

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but since the files are already in ISO format, they should already have preset settings for things like Book Type. I think those type of settings should be modified if you are constructing you're own DVD. Since an ISO is basically an image of the original disk, leave whatever settings you can modify alone. Also, I think the media itself is more critical than the burner model. I think that as long as your burner is running the latest firmware, you shouldn't have any problems.

Volume label can be left blank.
