Are you installing or uninstalling at this point?

I have the BMW instructions if you would like that outlines the steps - just drop me an email request.

Okay I got. The big termination loop has a protector cover on, that has to be removed and that was messing me up because it looks like it belongs on there.

Heres the parts needed. 61136917978 and 61136917541.

1. Ignore the pink antenna wire and the small fan wire and just tape them off to the side so they dont rattle.
2. Pop out the two fiber optic cables from their black cover by pulling up on the small clip with your fingernail.
3. Snap the two fiber optic cables into the new small black cover.
4. Remove the black protector thats on the termination loop contacts
5. Snap the small clip with the fiber optic cables into the big termination loop.
6. Tape the termination loop and other black box of wires down to prevent rattles and your done.

All the connectors only connect one way, so you cannot put them in backwards. You do not need any tools to change the wires. Just a wrench to remove the sat box bolts. And thanks to Tom at EAS, as this could not have been done so easily without his help.

Once removed, you don't need any programming done right? What happens if you try to select SAT?

Nothing happens. I selected sat on my idrive screen and the menu was just blank. With the termination loop everything seems fine.

on my car without idrive
the sat option is gone
and don't notice anything different in usage
i didn't want to do the programming after removing it, in case the next owner wants it back
he would just install the unit and everything would work fine

After removing the box, my BMW Assist / SOS button stopped working. What's the deal?

This would happen if a MOST termination loop wasn't installed when the Sirius receiver was removed, breaking the fiber loop.

I did install the termination loop. Everything else works (radio, navigation, etc.) but if I press the SOS button, nothing happens.

Check to make sure power is going to the mULF, if not - check to see if the fuse is blown. If wiring is correct - a battery reset may bring the device back to life.

No luck. Took it to a dealer but they blamed it on the termination loop (idiots called it an iPod adapter). I'll take it to another dealer and see what they say.

Update: BMW Assist subscription got deactivated because I never activated it after buying the car (I got it used). My SA at the dealer (Global Imports BMW) insisted that the subscription is only valid for a year whereas I know it's supposed to be valid for four years. Ironically, he is no longer an SA there. I'll be going to another dealer to get it activated.

If Sirius was never installed - there's no reason for the termination loop.
Tom,

Sorry to jump in on an old post - but I am desperately trying to go in the opposite direction on a 135. I installed the Sirius unit and fan. My car had the plug, antenna and power for the fan. But now I do not know what to do in the MOST junction boxes. The optical cabeling in my MOST Upper Box does not match what the install PDF shows, How can I use the flashlight trick and figure out how to route the cables to complete a circuit with the Sirius box in it?

I'd really appreciate the help.

Steve

Just curious, if a car is prepared ( wires are in place) and I'm taking my friends unit, is the terminal loop in my car?

No, it's not. You need to re-wire the MOST bus under the rear seat bolster.
