curious, are the mounting fasteners the same as the ones used on the oem plastic undercarriage panels??
There are about six mounting points that you have to install riv nuts for it. I like that, as it should make it a bit more secure. The other points still use screws and quick nuts, but they are M6 instead of the 8mm ones that are standard. PDF instructions to give you an idea: http://bd8ba3c866c8cbc330ab-7b26c6f3...stallation.pdf

Passenger Side Hood Latch Stuck

Went to add washer fluid to my 2011 328i xDrive, and the hood latch made a click rather than the thunk of opening the hood latches. The passenger side latch failed to open. Removed the passenger front tire and wheel liner to gain access to the latch cable, used a long pick tool and pulled the cable to open the latch. Found the hood cable latch box was not attached to the fender, I must have knocked it off when I changed the air filter.

I already have it all actually working including the variable, just need to change from the second cruise backplate to the variable from an early e60 v8 so it looks OEM and proper for a stock 325.

So for $100 invested and an hour or two of actual work, I wound up using my stock very early 325 cluster board and covers, 335 needles and faceplates (and cruise motor) from a $50 e93 335 cluster, and an e60 variable rpm plate from a $50 early 550 e60 cluster. . . Should look stellar and be completely ignored by the masses who will think it is stock because it is made from all stock parts, just recombined.

I will say this, with perfeky toolbox, take back up of stock cluster gauge settings, , make a new folder for 335 cluster, plug it in and take a back up of all the 335 gauges’ settings, then when you swap things over, just reload the settings from 335 backups to match the 335 faces into your stock cluster.
FYI You won’t get a tamper dot unless you drove around with the wrong cluster in.

The backups of settings is absolute gold. I did the same thing, kind of. I found screenshots of stock settings for a 335 when I added my oil temp gauge.

Two critical things:
1. Be very precise putting the needles on, readjusting the start position is a small pain. Also it can default to the position you put it in (before editing start position) when the car is off

2. If you change your Speedo or Tach max, you will have to compensate with custom values. Even doing basic math to even things out sometimes isn't enough

Most difficult part of the install is putting in the Rivnuts on the v-brace and subframe. It's very well designed and has a good fit. Mine looks nearly brand new after 3 years. I have the black powdercoat crinkle finish version.

Got the headliner back up and all the assorted handles and trims reinstalled yesterday on my lunch break, just need to reinstall the rear of console today to be 95% done with interior for now (still waiting on my e60 cluster to cannibalize the variable redline wheel from tomorrow).

then I can start working on the belt and idler replacement, along with rebuilding the ac pulley so I can drive it again.

I'm replacing a couple of under body trim pieces (51757166649 and 51757166650), and prepping for the oil pan gasket job this weekend.

I'm hoping I don't have to do OPG anytime soon! I think new valve cover is in my near future though. A small leak from the valvetronic sensor gasket, and I just can't figure out if the other one is from the motor's football gasket or not. Definitely some misting in the general vicinity below it, but not sure...

Been putting this off because I hate brake fluid (did I mention that already?). Yesterday, while changing the engine oil, I presoaked the eight (8) rear hose connections with my go-to penetrant, Kroil.

I'll start with the fronts because they are easier to get to and more important with regard to safety.

Wish me luck. I have a time window from my wife... be in the house by 3:30 PM for Superbowl prep (really to watch Puppy Bowl XX).

I hate brake fluid.
Follow up...

So, the right-rear intermediate hose seems to have sprung a leak Last weekend I had the Z3 on the rack to replace the tires and rechecked my hose replacements. Saw a small amount of fluid running down the hose. I thought it was just left over from the initial install. I checked the tightness of the connection; all good. Sprayed some brake clean and wiped it off.

Took the Z3 out for a spin to check the balance of the new tires. Stopped to chat with my neighbor. Had my foot on the brake... and the pedal started to sink to the floor. UGH.

oh no!
let us know if the leak is from the hose or from a fitting; are the hoses OEM or are they s/s braided lines??

SO pleased you discovered the sinking brake pedal whilst stopped AND in view of your home!
