Intake Manifold Issue During Valve Cleaning

Hey guys,

I just did my 2nd valve cleaning at 98k miles, did the last one at 62k miles and been fbo during that time. They absolutely needed it! Brought back the throttle response and I'm assuming some placebo effect but overall, happy with the Bavauto kit.

When I was installing the intake manifold, I turned the setting on my torque wrench and didn't notice. I ended up snapping the stud that's directly in the center of the intake manifold. The dealer is out of stock and it will be a few days until it's in. Am I OK to run the car without that stud/nut?

I'd prefer not to tear everything apart and will fix it next time I'm in there, I'm just wondering if it's a 911 emergency to get it done ASAP or if I can run it until my next repair and I'd be in there already? I just put new gaskets in, will they need replaced if I take things apart?

Thanks.

I had dropped a manifold nut when I took it off to access OFHG and drove a few days without it. Bolted the ones one the outside and left the empty one unbolted and did not have any issues.

awesome, thanks for the re-assurance. I figured 6 other nuts holding it on, one missing shouldn't be a huge deal since it's not high pressure.

Yeah that's what I thought to.

And anyways, worse case scenario would have just been a intake leak.

Should be fine. I'm missing one of the nuts as well but it's not really an issue. Sounds like you cranked the stud right off which might be a bit of a bitch to fix. I just need to go find the right size nut...dunno what the stud was built into but sounds like it's going to be more trouble fixing it than it's worth.

Remove the stud and use regular bolt. M7x1.5x50. Easily found in most hardware stores.

Take the bolt (#1 is bolt from factory) with you and I'm sure you will find compatible replacement locally for few dollars.
