All of this and I'm not even including tax and the fact that 09 might be less negotiable in terms of pricing compared to 08. And the only difference the 09 will have is updated Idrive and shadowline trims from the sports package compared to the similiarly equiped 08.

So my questions is do you guys think its worth it to pay an additional $2,025 dollars not including tax for just the shadowline trims and updated Idrive?
whether it's worth it depends on your individual situation, but surely to see something that's not a life must have (for most of us) to see something that was basically the same product from one yr to the next that was for most of us already a premium price, increase by about $2,000 yeah, it feels less worth it...to what degree, again depends on you. It's very disappointing compared to what's out there... unless everyone has plans to raise their models by the same degree and/or taking away standard options.

BMW is also reducing shipments to NA to decrease supply, so they're already hedging to a degree against the dealers hitting any tough stretches of moving inventory...

so, unless the US economy gets sooo bad that so far fewer of us are purchasing / leasing BMWs in 2009, i don't think there will be substantially good deals.

I think the only way with what BMW has already outlined for the NA market...
would make even less profit is if the USD further weakens (which wouldnt be good for us)

but i doubt the dollar will weaken more in 2009, it seems to be on a uptrend.

Yes those 2009 Pricing Sheets on Autospies are what I have from my CA and were provided by Bimmerfile. Look at the Priority One Sheet...none available for the e90 and the e92/e93 gets a Jade Grey Leather option.

Bad news on Smartphone Integration. You must buy the ipod/USB option and BMW Assist. The cable is probably a third USB connector added to the iPod and USB cable which everyone will get. The $150 price is for the cradle and the software. So you really have to pay $1250+ for this Smartphone option. Crazy and not so Smart...

HD Radio is part of the M3 Tech Package STD, but I still think it is an extra $300 on the 3 Series with Nav.

Cheers,

I wasn't around this forum when the initial e90 was launched or the e92, but was it this chaotic? Did BMW wait until the very last minute to release pricing and details about options and whatnot? I mean, really, I've tried to keep a cool head about this whole thing because, at the end of the day, I'm going to be bringing home a sweet new car and I know I'm going to be really happy, but this whole process has got me scratching my head and wondering what the heck is going on.

It makes me so sad to look at those US prices. Compared to our prices here in Finland your cars are almost free. Because of our high taxes and specially because our car taxes are based on CO2, I could buy 3 E93 M3 cabriolets with the amount I payed for my M3. So unfair that it costs under 70000 dollars there, and with the current euro-dollar rate would cost over 200000 dollars here (just payed 140000 euros).

Different prices for different countries. I won't go into all the reasons for this as it would be way too long and way off-topic but, suffice it to say, there are advantages and disadvantages of living here vs. living in Finland.

If the M3 cost $200K in the United States, BMW NA would never sell a single one. At its current price, it is borderline too pricey.

Sounds like the effective price increase will be more than that, in that the 2009 335i doesn't come with Logic7 - it is now an extra-cost option.

I was quite enthused by the idea of the Mojave paint until I saw that motorcycle.
I'd still like to see a photo but there's nothing online yet, not even on the Germany website.

Also BMW already increased their prices on June 1, 2008:

http://www.bmwblog.com/2008/05/06/bm...g-june-1-2008/

So that is 2.1% more on a price that was already bumped up 2-3 months ago.

Plus they dropped the residuals for leases, plus I am sure they won't have 0.9% financing on 09s, plus they may or may not have the automatic transmission trunk money for dealers meaning a lot less discounting from MSRP for the consumer. . .

All in all it will be a LOT more expensive (maybe close to a 10% increase with all factors considered?) to own a BMW in the future. . .

That's Ok, keep on increasing and I wont buy another bmw. I am thinking this increase is to cover their butt for the poor sales on the Z model where they had to give big discount to move those cars off of inventory.

euros vs USD is the biggest factor of this increase in price. with the weakening economy and falling dollar....i think its safe to say there'll be another hike soon.

Yeah, I lease and have 1.5 years left on mine. Seems another might be quite a bit more by then. More up-front and less on residuals will bump up the payment to much more than I want to pay. Used M3 time?
