if you start stripping changing parts against lighter ones, you need to have a fully adjustable suspension with which you can ballance your car again. Especially as almost all the weight reduction is in the middle and the back of the car, there is not much in the front which you can reduce.
I lightend my Z4M about 85kg, which is about 185lbs (including light wheels) The difference in performance is significant, drag, but especially in handling. The brakes thank you for this!

Lighter does mean you have better control of the car but if lost as in,"you take a turn and you spin out," you have a higher chance of flipping over or seriously getting hurt.

Roll cage or not, people still get hurt but it does save lifes.

yup, especially is this is roting mass as well. Lightweight 18" with non runflut save a lot. 55-64 lbs depending on OZ Allegerita or VOLK...
With brakes (Stoptech, Movit) you can save also quite some weight. Around 30 lbs if you take the 355mm.

I always laugh at fat guys driving cars with cf hoods. That saved you what? 15lbs tops? Lose some f'n weight and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Why do you think all the indy drivers bitched about Danika? She's tiny. Best weight savings there is.

Hmmm. I went pretty balls out when i had my 3'er.

-LW battery
-Removal of rear seats (had ABS plastic police seats installed)
-Vorsteiner double CF hood
-CF trunk
-Wheels / non run flats
-other crap I cant think of.

... Too tell you the truth the handling was nice but I couldnt really feel a HUGE diff in acceleration.

Reason being is, the weight savings was little.

And also, when ppl shave weight off you save .1 max .2 seconds of the acceleration (0-60, 0-100), thats why you dont feel it. "1. of a second," is nothing to feel but on the road it makes a world difference.

The weight data of 231.5 lbs for wheels is with Mich PS2 tires. The BStones are about 2 lbs heavier per tire.

Ive shaved about 200 lbs off the car doing that probably a bit more, and to tell you the truth the $$ spent for the weight saved really doesnt justify it. Unless you have nothing else to do to the car and you have cash to spend.

To tell you the truth Id rather buy a few barrels of c16.

When I switched my 189's to Volk LE28's and Kumhos I immediately felt the change when I was autoxing. You can feel it on the street too but unless you're doing some crazy stuff you won't really be able to tell that much.

I eventually want to buy a lightweight battery and CF hood (more for the cooling benefits than weight savings). I also plan on yanking out my rear seats for the next autox. Usually I just fold them down and put the passenger seat flat to put the weight towards the lowest center of gravity. Its mostly placebo but it might help. Who knows...

Truth. Unsprung weight loss is key.

But the best serious weight reduction plan? Save your $ and buy a Cayman or wait for a Z2.

That said a lot of parts do much more than just drop weight.

This.

Ive probably spent more money on weight reduction than I have on actual engine parts (and Ive spent a lot of money on engine parts...).

Dollar for dollar weight reduction isnt worth it unless you have serious cash to throw around.

Threw 26k into my 3'er and I got probably 5% of that back.

Live and learn.
