Washed the Engine: Error Codes
Hey all,
I have been crazy busy and I let a good local place change my oil, BUT they never placed the filter gasket (o-ring) back on the filter cap...needless to say my engine was covered in oil. I changed my oil and replaced the filter and added a new gasket myself, then I cleaned the engine with a water diluted simple green mix and it looks amazing! But...now I am getting errors. The following errors have been during idle only and about 1 day after I washed the engine bay: Engine Module: 1) 002C58: Boost Pressure Control Shutdown 2) 00387F: Power Management Closed Circuit 3) 003406: Engine Oil Pump: Pressure too low (ps - I did my oil correctly, and I didn't add sand, I promise) 4) 00A6CF: AUC Sensor The car showed low oil pressure warning and limp mode on the Navi. I have cleared them 2 times with Carly and they stay off for a bit during normal and spirited driving, but they come back after a short drive when the car is at idle. What sensor did I break with the moisture? |

Went for a 1.5 hour drive on the highway Saturday night, and 1.5 just now. No errors while driving - came back and parked in the driveway. I sat there in the car for 2 minutes and as it idled - I got the Navi error warnings for low oil pressure and engine limp mode.

The good news - it's not happened today...yet. Maybe something dried out (fingers crossed). This has been the first streak of nice days in a while. I did add some belt dressing to the serpentine belt. It was hammered in oil from the shop forgetting the gasket. No more oil changes without me doing it, I guess. |

low oil pressure at idle is probably low oil pressure.
at a hot idle is when it will be the lowest. You need to put a mechanical gauge in place of the oil pressure warning switch and determine what your actual oil pressure is. and with all these people talking about shops not putting o rings back on filter caps, why the fuck do you people not immediately call the shop that performed the sub standard work and make them tow it back to the shop? You're absolving them of all liability if you touch it after them. hopefully it didn't run low on oil pressure in the top end and starve the motor and destroy it, because now they're going to flatly deny any insurance claim because you touched it after they did. |

Hey everyone,
Just to close this thread out - all is good. No more issues. Whatever it is went away. I did (out of paranoia) change my oil again. Oh well... Changing my squeaking belt and pulleys this weekend - what an ordeal this was, but the car has 116K on it so I may as well change them anyway. Thanks again! |
