damn!!!...that's quite a deep pothole to do that! As its low down there do you fancy trying a little DIY? I would. Clean, rub down, fill, and a bit of rattle can paint. If it fails then its to the body shop for a respray which is you only other option in any event.
I'd say take your wheel off...give it a clean and have a good ole inspection for any damage / cracks.

Feel for you bro!!

Your bumper hit the ground? How deep was said pot hole?

Did you take any pictures of the pot hole? I would be complaining to the local council..

I don't mind a bit of DIY. Mind explaining exactly how about you'll go down this route. No experience in this field.

Realll deep. Bloody never saw it cause its up hill then bang flat road with FAT pothole. Problem is this was behind Greenford Tesco leading to main road. Will council cover that?

Smart repair

My daughter had very similar damage to her 250 SLK repaired by Mercedes, after reversing over a rock. Cost her about £140

That must have been quite some pothole. How's the rim and tyre? Think I'd get them checked as well as suspension for any damage

What damage did it do to your wheels and suspension if it was that deep?

If it was on Tesco's land I would try to claim from them. If a pothol is that so that it causes that damage they ought to be liable.

If it's council maintained I would pursue them as well.

look on the plus side good time to get a new splitter

respray and fit of new splitter would cost the same plus you could get it smoothed in

Write with costs asking for settlement inside 30 days which is not unreasonable.
When they deny you, file a small claims court action and you can claim for the interest on the damages too.
They take notice at that point.
Shareholders ya see

Of course, you have the written statement of the chap behind who stopped to help you to back this up.

Sir_Pigley & Theivz. I spoke to the Store Manager today and he told me that its no their part of land and they have reported this to the council four months ago. He told me to fill out the accident book to keep a record on the system. A lady assisted with this and gave me receipt with the details on it. Whilst I was at it a customer told me that a lot of car fall into this pot hole and get damaged. Surely someone must have reported it before?

m1bjr & gaza01 I'm thinking of using one of those solicitors who deal with RTA claims. Is that bad or good? Or shall I just do it myself?

Obviously they will claim theirs costs from the council no?

Thanks everyone for their input.

If you look at last picture you'll see that it is a slope. Therefore you don't see it till you hit it kind off thing.

I've contacted the council myself in the past - fill out a form then they pay you a cheque once you have sent them a receipt. simples

1M bumper sounds awesome
