Change transmission

Hello!

I have a 2010 335i, my transmission failed and I won't walk.
So I decided to buy another used one and maintain it.

My question is, when I install it, do I have to use INPA to reset transmission values or just start using it?

Has anyone already changed a transmission? What steps did you follow?

No, you don't need/want to reset any adaptation values. Whatever values are already saved in the new TCU, that's what you want to use.

Maybe someone else here will chime in, but I think it's pretty plug-n-play, but I'm not 100% sure. I think it depends what year the new transmission is you put in the car.

What do you mean "calibrate it"? Never heard of anyone doing that before. You're not talking about resetting the adaptation values are you? Because you definitely DON'T want to do that.

Just a side question....but have you tried servicing the transmission you have? There are a few seals in them that are known to crack and cause issues. Also the shift solenoids can crap out and cause issues. Might be worth it to try to service the once you got?
