Service Engine Light.

So today I got a service engine light on my bmw e92 2008 328xi. I've never really got it before but my car is at 78k miles right now. I recently as in yesterday, installed the rev motoring silicone intake hose but I had no light initially while driving that day. During install I made sure everything was clean from the inside of the hose and secured it as best I can and made sure the clamps at the ends were tightened perfectly so nothing could get through.

Could this light be caused by the new mod? or should I take my car in for a checkup. The car seems to be running normal, I've checked everything over and see nothing bad with the install. Should I be worried?

Might be too many questions and a simple answer, but I would like the thoughts of other members.

Thanks -
Krish ;|

Edit:
Managed to get my OBD tool working and got the fault code P0071 Ambient Air Temperature Sensor Range/Performance.
Normally when I work in the area of MAF sensor I'm extra careful so not sure why that came up. So could it be something else?

Is it the check engine light or the service light? Check engine means somethings wrong, service light could mean you just need an oil change or something.

It's just the yellow service engine light. But all my services aren't in need of work for another few thousand miles.

Service light, take to dealer. Might be some kind of recommended service they do, not necessarily an oil change. Not a check engine light so your car should be fine tho!

check engine light could mean many serious things(but not necessarily), and it definitely means there is something different comparing with stock condition.

For OP, I'm not trying to scare you, I just want to clarify the CEL. I think the first thing you need to do is scan the code. It will tell you what triggers the CEL. And for my personal experience, if your car still runs smooth, there is a big chance that it's not a big problem.

PS. service engine light is the same with CEL, in US, it's a yellow light of "service engine soon", in other place, its a yellow light of a engine symbol

CEL is not on, it's just the SES right now. Code just states Ambient Temp sensor fault.
