Chinese ebay brake rotors
These have less than 4k miles on them, warped after one stop from 145mph.
Car shuddered like crazy, and progressively got worse even after they were cooled down. Threw these in the trash and went OEM, no more issues. |

Did you bed them in properly before you did your 145 to 0 stop? How do you know they are warped? Did you put a dial indicator on them?
They could just be glazed, and have uneven spots of brake material on them...causing the pulsing.

I have some chinese rotors on my beater , 140 $ for pads and rotors all around for a buick enclave suv. Cant really beat that, dealer wants 700 $ for parts, other places still want 400-500 for parts. I dont want to spend that much on my beater, not sure how long its going to last
I had them for 2 years and so far so good. My friend bought from the same manufacturer for his honda 2 years ago and so far so good for him. We actually bought the brakes at the sometime through amazon. The honda brakes were like 90 $ for 4 pads and 4 rotors However I drive like a normal person on my beater LOL, I try not too brake too hard, and I definitely dont go from 145 mph to 0... It has take abuse over the past 2 years but nothing too crazy. If you are going to go hard on your brakes , you need at least OEM or better... I wouldnt be surprise if your OEM brakes wear out faster too if you keep taking them to the drag ... Funny enough , I paid the dealer to put OEM rotors and pads on my cadillac SRX , cost me close to 1000$ for all 4 wheels , it was winter in toronto , so I wasnt going to do it outside in minus weather and my brakes were done , so I had to bite the bullet.. After 500 KM , I started to get very hard vibrations. Took the cadillac back to the dealer and they found my front rotors were done , so OEM doesnt really mean they won't fail , I had the same thing happened on my enclave the very first time I had brakes done at the dealer, front rotors were done after 5000 kms... All cover under warranty by the dealer but I was surprise at how weak the OEM brakes were. My chinese brakes are holding up better so far... I thought one year tops but its been two years already. I already bought a new chinese set to replace the current ones before the winter, its an easy job and I already had good luck with this chinese ( sold in canada) company The BMW also has OEM brakes and they have been good so far ... I dont think I ll put chinese brakes on the BMW, I tend to drive it pretty hard and use my brakes quite a lot.... Last edited by rick100; 08-14-2020 at 08:51 PM.. |

Ive used the OEM rotors the same way and so far they are holding up well, if I decide to push the car harder and those give me problems I will likely look into some EBC rotors. |

The saying you get what you pay for is pretty true, you can push the envelope a bit but not to the extent of Chinese eBay rotors.
I have about 10k miles on my r1 concepts front slotted rotors and I have ran them hard with no issues at all. I bed them in with old pads that were on some deep grooved rotors. Rotors were just shy of 100 dollars when I bought them for the pair. |

The only reason I decided to try those cheaper brakes was after I saw many reviews on youtube from these canadian company, and they were positive and it was after I was having bad luck with the OEM brakes they put on the enclave, they were done after a 14 months, out of warranty period , I wasnt going to pay another 600 $ to have the front brakes replaced, for 150 $ I had all 4 brake pads and rotors. I started by just replacing the fronts, drove it for a few months , it was good , then I proceed it to replace the rears and its been like 2 years already.... they can probably last another 6 months to a year but I just dont feel like replacing them in the winter . |

Well it wouldn't shock me if GM part quality was worse than eBay/china, lol.
Meanwhile, my 160,000 e90 is still on it's second set of stock rotors for the whole life of the car. It needs a brake flush, but otherwise... |
