I don't like the tire places mounting my wheels with the impact wrench because I can never get them off without a breaker bar. So I just always remove the wheels and take them over in my SUV. They never ask what car they came off of... just be sure to take off the BMW center caps!

I think it is interesting that nobody mentions the region, or more specifically, the road surface material when discussing things like grip and performance. Not really related to the question posed by this thread, but after following all of the links and discussions, I am surprised it never came up.

Where is that? Some state law? Not here. I'd NEVER ride on rft again.

Been running Michelin ps2 zp for about 2 yrs now. I have no problem with handling or them being loud. As a matter of fact, I think they handle superb. Expensive, perhaps. I don't know where the idea of your car will handle better with non runflats comes from. According to TireRack test results Michelin pss gets 7.68 overall at road manners & dry/wet track test while Michelin ps2 zp gets 7.59 ahead of the competition.

I don't get why Americans frequently have this problem. I had no trouble with this, and the places knew very well these cars came with runflats.

Keep looking, surely some tyre places aren't clueless? Check Google maps to easily find the ones nearby.

Discount Tire. They asked if I was sure that I wanted go-flat rather than run-flat, then they mounted the PSS without another question.

Didn't read the whole thread so sorry if something similar has been said already.

Just some advice..... I went from stock RFT's to the Michelin PS A/3's and noticed almost no performance difference, except for the fact that they do not tram-line. The reason I chose these was the estimated tread life, didn't want to pay for new tires in 25K miles, and the PS A/3's have a 40K mile tread life. The reviews online said they were good, but obviously not as good as the PSS. So my advice would be get the best possible non-RFT or just stick with the RFT's.

Actually I'm considering just selling it. I didn't think it would be this heavy :|
It shouldn't be more than 40lbs or so. Get a donut those weigh half as much lol

I think you're referring to the added sidewall flex that comes along with non RF tires. It is negligible IMHO and its a load of BS. I'm enjoying my new Ventus RS3's. They feel great

Same here, they mounted my non RFs without a question. I would tell the shop to go fu** themselves if they had an issue with it lol

Those tires look weak. Non aggressive tread pattern and to many individual "slits" for rain/snow. If you got summer tires it would be a huge difference.

Yeah not too sure but only thing i think they could have done was make my suspension mushy.. Very very mushy (xi). I had Hankook before and like em a lot... I have two brand new 215 45 17's from my last car but the style is discontinued.. Upset about that.

I'll check those out too.

I can definitely feel the weight when taking turns etc. I think I'll leave the spare at home and throw it in the car only for long-ish trips, and in the folded backseat instead of the trunk so that the weight is more in the middle of the car. (If I can find a way to secure it there).

Sell it.. Insurance companies usually have aaa - like programs. Only reason I'd get a spare is if I crossed the country on a regular basis.

I switched from runflats to non-runflats 158,000 miles ago and don't regret it a bit. I did have one self inflicted tire issue (failed to monitor tread and had wear on the inside wall leading to failure). I belong to AAA and had them take my car on a flat bed to a tire store. No big deal.

I did check with. A reputable private place and they said "we will do it as long as the non rft you select are wishing the load bearing specs for the car

With that said I'm going from the stock potemza rft to the conti dws 06 - going to go next week have them price match tire rack

I'm really curious to see how the car feels after the change

I guess it's time to look for that spare kit too

This.

I went up a size also and they were more than happy to do so.

Obviously on RWD Correct?

Do you think that would translate to 20k all around on an xDrive?
