Glow Plug Help

My buddy has this issue. Looks like glow plugs #1 and #5 need to be replaced. Is there a diagram of where they are located on our 335d vehicles?:

Thanks!

Sure since I don't know the year of you 335, I'll use a 2011 for the search, the codes are mostly all the same.

PM with the code description sent.

Can you look up this too:

Motor Control:

Engine / Motor
Glow plug
Code: 004A7E

Glow plug
Code: 004A09

Message failed
Code: 004A74

message fault
Code: 004A79

Receive news of IBS LIN-bus communication
Code: 0049A5

Any thoughts or suggestions? It would not clear the faults on a restart via Carly. It would clear the code while the car is on.

Lin-bus codes are usually due to the glow plug module. Replace it.

Yes, the glow plug module was swapped. And five months later, I sold the car. I was happy with cash in hand and seeing the taillights turn the corner.

Thanks for the reply!

Your solution was also backed up by ISTA-D which I just obtained this week... Replace the module it is.

I just did the CBU, so I will have to take the intake back off...

The manifold doesn't have to be removed to replace the module if you are good with your fingers:

Can anyone confirm if code 4A0F indicates a failing glow plug control module? I tried a google search on the code but didnt come up with anything definitive.

i could be wrong, but i think the "0" indicates the module. #1,2,3,4,5,6 indicates glow plug cylinder location.

from what i have noticed in the past with these cars if you are getting a glow plug then also check your coolant temps. FWIW so far with any of these codes i have not actually found a bad glow plug. replacing the module fix "bad" glow plugs. i Ohm them out and all read the same.

Thanks for the detail response. What kind of readings do you typically see when you Ohm them out?

.6 i don't remember the exact read out if it was ohm, kilo or mega

a glow plug is a simple heating coil. few things when reading them... for the most part as long as it they all read about the same or doesn't read dead short or open.

if one is bad it should be clearly out of whack to the rest of them.. if you read the comments in my video linked you i tell someone how to get a glow plug reading with the intake on from the wire harness along with what wires are to which glow plug.
