Steering Rack Squeak
After I got my car aligned in July, there's a squeak in the steering rack. It was hardly noticeable at first, but now that it's cold, it's much more noticeable. I have a feeling it's the ball joints on the tie-rods since they had to adjust toe quite a bit.
What do you guys think? I haven't really looked at it too much, just guessing based off the noise. It only happens the first few turns when the car sits overnight. |

There was just a thread like this a couple days ago. It is a joint that gets squeaky. Give a quick search. He took it to a dealer and the service ticket said they lubed it, which I assume means wiped some grease on it and put it back together.

Get some white lithium grease in a spray can and spray the fuck out of it. I mean really drench that bitch from all angles possible while you have someone constantly turning the wheel back and forth, full lock to full lock. Solved all my issues. Been almost a year now. Only happened at low speeds pulling in and out of parking spots/my driveway.

I'm assuming you mean spray the ball joints and bushings? |

Hm. To me it sounds like it's coming more from the tie rods, but I could be wrong. I also think this because it started the day I got the alignment, where they're would've adjusted the tie rods.
I'll probably put some grease on both when I change to winter tires soon. |
